Screen Trouble

I just got an HP laptop, and the screen is doing something strange. It has these little staggered areas of black lines that flicker. Anyone know what could cause that?

The LCD itself may be damaged, or you're running a refresh rate higher than it can handle. Try setting it to 60Hz.

Damn, it's at 60 hZ It would be really irritating to have to send it back.

it could be the LCD got damaged during shipping. even tiny cracks would cause it to fuck up. or maybe it's not connected to the computer itself properly?

It could be your video driver too, but most likely it's your LCD going wacko.
But IMO, I suggest you return it anyway, as far as I know and have experienced, HP (and Compaq now for that matter) computers (both notebooks+desktops) weren't exactly good in the reliability scale.
