Just beat Metroid Prime(rented it when it came out but was busy and didn't finish it, just recently bought it). It was an awsome game, but there were a couple things that pissed me off. First was the beam weapons, I didn't like having four different types of weapons instead of constant powering up of the old one, maybe having to switch a little(can't have piercing, not burning, plasma beam and ice beam at the same time). Also the Metroid were weak, I shouldn't be able to kill one with out the freeze beam. The metroids were suppose to be galaxy threatening all consuming energy beasts, in this one there were just a minor threat easily beaten back.

So, when is Echoes coming out and when in the Metroid time line does it take place?

As far as I've heard, Echoes takes place between Prime and Metroid II.

Which actually makes sense. Super Metroid takes place almost immediately after Metroid II, she's too powerful between Super and Fusion, and after Fusion, she's undergone a lot of changes. While I do hope the next major Metroid takes place post-fusion, the time between Zero Mission and II is the best place to still have the classic Samus we know and love.

I wonder when Hunters will take place?

Anyway, I loved the graphics and gameplay, but got very, very annoyed with Prime. Simply put, it got BORING to travel from once side of the map, over and over again, back and forth.

Fusion, on the other hand, I've beaten several times over.

I've only played through and beaten Prime once. However, that once, was according to the game 19hrs. I had a week off from work during the christmas/new years when Prime came out and I played it all damn week. That's all I did was run around looking at everything. Yeah, the Metroids where weak, sort of. They were mainly a bitch in the one room where you had to hop around the floating platforms.

Personally I loved the different beams and the visors. To me added a new depth and several layers to the game. Super Metroid, Fusion both of those you go out there with some über kick ass weapon. Here you have to decide which weapon gets the job done, and sometimes it's a choice between them. The visor was a big plus as well, I had to re-explore areas at times.

The only thing I had to change was the C-stick/D-pad config. I can't remember what it was, but all I did was swap the visor with the weapons. Basically you couldn't look and do the functions with your visor in it the default config. Maybe it's just me. It seems like they would have switched that before they finalized the game. Go figure.

Great game though. I will say this is one of those titles that defines a console. When you get into that game, that's when you know who's king of the hill.
