Finally playing KotOR!

It is sooo much fun being evil.
I liked that I've pitted Matale against Sandral and had them kill each other and their kids. Heheheheeee.
But the combat system sucks (hits and misses done by a roll of a die?) and I can't kill anyone I want.
I give this game 6.5 out of 10.1.

Giving KotOR any less than 10/10 is heresy. And how's it supposed to determine hit/miss without some random factor?

And, er, welcome to a game /with a plot/. Where if you kill absolutely everything, THE GAME STOPS.

Fallout had a plot, but you could kill damn near everyone.
KOTOR has always seemed a bit too structured sometimes.

Especially when you consider that lightside/darkside points only factor in when there's a conversation or similar multiple-choice prompt.
So basically you can slaughter every last Tusken women and child and blow off Lil' Brudder's only leg without a single bad mark on your record, but if you so much as tell someone to go away or that buying something you don't need is unreasonable, you're suddenly a naughty, naughty person.
I noticed something was up with what actions were being counted the first time I played through, but didn't pinpoint it and just assumed it wasn't consistent with which choices it counted. Wasn't untill I started the 2nd character that I realized it didn't count jack shit outside of the conversation menu. Hope they do better in KotOR 2.
And reports have correctly indicated that the 30 seconds of Huttese phrases lifted from The Phantom Menace and used for almost every alien dialogue drove me fucking nuts. The next time I hear some damn Rodian/Ithorian/Aqualish/Duro/Twi'lek/Jawa/Rakatan spew out that same fucking 'teh-moo-le-rah' phrase, I am going to rip their fucking head off and rape them with it. Don't get me started on how every female alien started every thrid sentence with 'mooka-shaka-baga' or some similar annoying phrase. And it takes them all 6 seconds to say 'thank you' for some reason. It does not make long conversations immersive.
But I managed to like it overall the first time through since enough of the gameplay was solid and engrossing. It's just way too heavy-handed with making it obvious it's a Bioware D&D-based game, and it aint no Fallout. Oh yeah, and most RPGs use a dice roll system for, well, just about every action you don't directly control yourself. Hence the stats and skill points and whatnot...

Luckily, with former Black Isle guys doing KOTOR 2, it definitely will be more like Fallout than KOTOR, in at least with respect to some more *sensible* evil, rather than the petty thug evil that took up way too much of KOTOR. Though there's cool evil in that too.

It took me a while to turn into an evil bastard. I played it neutral for a while.
But wait until you get to near the end of the game. The conversation I had with the members of my party made Spanky gasp and call me a "heartless bastard".
EDIT: This is after I got so low I couldn't earn any more Dark Side points.
