Okay, so who here aside from me and Graeme Dice plays this game or is even familiar with it? I know there are a few who got familiar with Dom-PPP and some whop tried the demo for Dom2, but who actually actively plays the game? I'm just being curious.

I got it a few weeks ago and was actually about to start a thread on it. Dom2 parties that last well until morning have been a constant fixture of my summer since then.
Ridiculously awesome game, but the learning curve is pretty steep. Even after you understand all the mechanics, there's a lot of stuff that's just not obvious in the beginning, like the importance of summons. But that's the price one pays for this kind of incredible depth.
BTW, I presume you're the same Edi that made the Faerun map? Congrats on that, great stuff. We need stupendously huge maps.

I haven't had hat luxury, I'd need a second comp before I could really get to playing against one of my friends, otherwise we've played co-operative games with relatively compatible nations, with victory set by number of provinces.

True enough. Takes a while to learn, but that's what makes it so great. The most stuypendous thing about it is that the Illwinter guys made this game on their free time while having other jobs.

Yes, that's me. Glad you liked my work.
I'll see what I can do in the map department if I get decent map graphics. They take a lot of work, which probably accounts for the relatively small number of maps out there.

Believe me, it is. Extremely addictive too. Not often does one see a game that will run on Windows, Linux, Solaris and Mac out of the box.

If there's anybody who's interested in blitz games, then you should probably take a look at #dominions on irc.gamesurge.net

I'm having trouble with the patches and my restrictive firewall; every time I play a turn it kicks me out with the 'bad cd key' thing. Any ideas, ports, etc?

I haven't been playing multislayer, so I don't know how to help you, but you should post the question on the Dom2 board at Shrapnelgames. The peopple there will know how to solve your problem.
