McAfee ActiveShield

I'm having problems with McAfee ActivShield (it's not my computer, I wouldn't have it on mine had I the choice).

Anyhow, every time I try to enable ActiveShield, I get the following error:

Some components of ActiveShield are either missing or might not have been installed properly. Please reinstall ActiveShield.

Now, this would be easy to do, if I could uninstall components from the Control Panel. HOWEVER, because the Internet Security Suite is all encompassing, I can only uninstall that. If I try uninstalling the Suite, then it takes out both the antivirus and the spamkiller, which I don't want to do, and don't know how to do at that point.

I've looked all over the McAfee site and forums, but so far have found nothing, and I can't use their Tech support chat because it only opens up a blank page.

Can anyone provide some actual useful information?

...Should I take it that no one knows anything about this, then...?

You should be able to re-install it ontop of itself.

Mcafee itself is aware of this error and recommended 3 solutions to ensure the proper functioning of the active shield. Either try to remove other security applications you have on your system, try reinstalling mcAfee to restore the corrupted or missing files, or if still it doesn't work you have to check your PC for viruses that keeps on damaging the active shield component. You can read more on this [LINK REMOVED] guide if unsure what to do. Steps are further explained there.

You'll have to uninstall the complete suite and then reinstall it, probably.

Somehow I don't think that solution is going to help haas mark very much. :P

What I can't figure out is whether ravendawson is a spammer or just an uninformed n00b. :?:

Almost certainly a spammer.

EDIT: Oh boy, this is a six-year-old thread! Whoops

Yeah, it is a spammer.
