Looking for the name of NES game

Post by Xisiqomelir »

Ok, when I was younger, ALL of my NES carts were bizarrely-labelled asian pirates, so as a result, I don't know what the real names of the games were, which makes ROM-hunting a colossal pain.

I've isolated most of them, but there is one game which I still cannot find. The pirate label was "Secret Ranger J". This is what I remember of the gameplay.

It was a 1/2 player top-down action game. The opening screen features some ships and planes rushing to an island, then the players start the first level on the beach. There's hostages in balaclavas tied to posts which you must not shoot, and uhh there's tanks which you can jump in and use, but they can blow up so you have to jump out before it happens. I recall that later on there's a bonus stage in a minecart where you go along whipping the hostages to release them. The last boss is this strange little fat man in purple pajamas who fights you from the top of a palace.

Help much appreciated. ^^

I haven't played it in a long time, but I seem to recall Jackal being similar to that.

I think you're talking about either Ikari Warriors or Guerilla War.

I'm leaning towards Guerrilla War.

Definitely Guerilla War. Or as my brother and I called it: Ikari Warriors With Beards.

Well since his question was answered, I'll ask my own. Game I played when I was little, for some reason it scared me. Story was bascily something strange was happening in the shcool and a girl was trapped in there, entire footbal lteam went in not to return, so this nerdy kid with a stick goes in. Sidescroller, monster fighting, going into class rooms, didn't play for long cuase it freak me ou(I was pretty young).
