What the fuck? Hard disk space oddity

I have a C: whoose total size is 4.87GB (the other part of the single hard disk is about 70GB, and is used solely for games and apps)

I find I'm running out of space. I don't know why- then I checked the properties of the relevant folders in C: of which there are very few.

Windows takes up 1.45 gigabytes.

But here's the wierd thing, the "Documents & Settings" folder takes up 1.39GB, supposedly broken up between 35,102 files over 700 folders!

Small problem- I don't have that fucking many folders and files in the Documents and Settings folder. Looking at all that's visible, there's barely 100MB of stuff there over the standard handful of folders. What's going on? Anything I should look for?

Ah fuck, I just realized, I have an obscenely huge temp directory. Why'd they move the fucking thing from where it used to be in Win 98, and better yet, make the fucking thing hidden so you have to config Windows to even see it?

Because when your target audience is 280 million really stupid people, you've gotta tailor your product in a really stupid way.

There is a global temp directory and then there are per-user temp directories.
