Doom 3 Problem

For some reason Doom 3 crashes when i try and start it up. It goes from the little screen with the monster and "Doom 3" to a black screen, then a grey screen, back toa black screen then it brings up a window saying:
Run time error
C:\..blah blah ... \Doom3.exe
Abnormal Prigram termination
Any ideas how to solve this?
Currently i can't get the latest drivers for my graphics card (GForce4 MX 440) as they're 12 meg and i'm on dial-up with no CD writer on this PC. I do plan on getting them when i go back to uni and have access to the uni network.

The 6800GT barely gets over 30 fps. Even the FX 5950 Ultra gets only 30... I can just imagine how many FPS the Geforce4 will get
It may run on minimum quality though.
Anyway, I don't know what's causing your trouble
Do you have DirectX 8 or 9?

Those are on high quality , I doubt 2000AD is running full quality.
On that matter, i'm not sure shaderless cards work with Doom3

I'm running the version of DX that Doom comes with it (9b i think, certainly "9 something")

It's not fucking running at all! That's the problem.
My other problem is finding a uni PC with a CD writer so i can get the newest drivers for the card to see if that will work.

Could be drivers, probebly drivers.
I don't have doom so i'm not sure, any out-of-game configuration programs to set stuff up?
