FSTGOD1: A Cool Idea

A fantasy, land-based STGOD. You fight with regiments of soldiers at a Roman Imperial techlevel- Simple iron and bronze weapons, limited communications, basic stirrups, non-tacking square sail vessels, and... Magic.
Nations come in 3 flavors- Grand, Medium, and Regional. Each player takes the map and marks off a peice of Europe, North Africa, or Western Russia. They then get to mark where it is mountainous and where it is forest or flatland, and the mods will Yea or Nay everyone's choice. Grand powers get a maximum of 100 regiments of soldiers (Far fewer if they want to have a professional force rather than barbarian hordes.) Medium powers get 70, regional powers, 30.
Just tossing an idea out here. Anyone have any comments? Like my little apocolyptic map?

Not too bad an idea.
I'd like to stake out a Grand Power in the Spanish/French Region.

I'm up for it. I call Rome! (Not the empire at it's height, of course; that'd screw the whole game; just the city of Rome and its general area/as large a territory around it as we're allowed to have.)
Edit: Putting this
link here for later use.

I call Britain anyway, London or no.
Out of curiosity, what natural phenomenon causes all these perfectly round bays where major ancient cities should be?

Scandinavia would be nice.
Is this human-only, or are there also dwarfs, elfs, trolls, and other such fantastical peoples? What sort of magic?

A Nuclear Holocost at the end of the 21st century gutted every city and town, and left the bays in their place.

I'm interested, and I'd be interested in playing a medium sized empire in North Africa, centered on what is in RL Tunisia. But if magic is going to be involved then it is going to need to be well controlled. I have zero interest in playing a game in which people start quoting D&D for examples of what there uber mage can do. Fantastical creatures and peoples I have no objection too though.

If there are dwarves, I'm doing that. Because if there are, I already have the groundwork for my nation laid out. For I am Renegade: Paladin Mod and Official Dwarf Designer of Quentriandal. Fear me.
Got lots of work put into it... If not, hey, it'll be fun making something new.

The fact that many of those craters of destruction have islands n their centers strongly suggest volcanoes. Anyway, the fact that we get to chose our own terrain really says to me at least that we should abandon any premise of this being the earth.

North Africa is already called for the Jihading Armies of SPAM (or a god whose name and Ideals I have yet to determine) so get your own land, bucko. Though having a nation that someone else is already at war with would be... interesting.
The one thing I'm worried about is the communication time between nations, because if were playing this midevil, it's going to be immense, and unless we allow Magic to be relativley common-place, the only news you'll be getting is from Magical Ambassadors, and maybe covert agents inside nations...

Fuck that. You can't go and call all of Northern Africa and Asia Minor outright. That's a huge amount of territory including one entire continent. Now how about as a more reasonable deal you take North Africa up to say Tripoli-Benghazi-ish and I take what is west of that. Though if someone else wants to extreme west for a small-ish Empire I'm fine with that.

What sort of 'level' of magic are we talking, exactly? I'm assuming not Netheril or Zeal(Which is a pity, a flying city is always impressive to you barbarian outlanders!), and I'm assuming medieval tech. I suppose I could ask if I could go steampunkish out in the Atlantic on floating atoll-cities, but I doubt that fits the rest...

Rogue 9 called Britain. Most of Russia, southern and eastern Europe are all still open by my count.
