Pewrsonally, I'm going for the WoH warm-up period, because it actually gives an element of uncertainty to where my power will end up. To early, and I'm a Solarian League nothing, a little later, and I'm a Manty toady, any later than this and I'm halfway into the Peeps' beds. This way, I get to try to score bribes from everybody .

Well, given that I'm playing Torch, that's something of a no-brainer, although it could be amusing to just run the Ballroom pre-Torch

But yeah, AoV-WoH makes for an interesting 'well wtf happens now?' atmosphere. Now I get to go dig out Crown of Slaves

If Torch is in on this, this must start smack in the middle of WoH, just before Honor leaves for Sileasia.
Crown of Slaves takes part right *in* WoH...

I could be wrong because the War of Honor timelime is actually more extended than the thing gives credit to but I believe that the Torch Incident occurs before the book begins.

In the first scene we meet Catherine Montaigne in WoH she is still Countess.
In the third chapter of Crwon of Slaves, at the dinner, she is already the "former Countess of the Tor". THe denouncement of her noble title happened in the first third of WoH, so CoS can't happen before the beginning of WoH.
Thus, Torch happens right in the middle of WoH, as the war hasn't restarted at the end of CoS (Erewhon is not *yet* switching sides to Haven by then)
