This isn't intended to be a big social/diplomatic party like we saw at the start of most STGODs. It's a list of the assorted letters which the powers have been sending amonst one another.
Have fun.

Alliance of Elven Nations?

Bugsby, we need to work out an agreement for my troops to be able to pass through your territory.

Actually, Fisher, considering how heavily you've fortified that border, I suspect that you have pretty poor relations with your neighbors to the North.

Regarding: Possible alliance against those who would so us harm
Code: Select all
The letter was written obviously in a caligraphic elven script
As has undoubtedly come to your attention, the barbarians across the sea from both of us have become more aggressive as of late, and threaten to to invade both our nations. Neither of us is, regretably, powerful enough to stand against them alone. Perhaps it would be prudent for us to send an envoy to your shores and inquire as to the possibility of an alliance of military significance between our nations.

OOC Note:
We haven't threatened to invade, we just do. The only warning a city gets is when a preacher enters the city with body guards, goes to the capitol of it, and starts preaching, calling for the conversion of the city and warning that if they don't convert it will be destroyed.

It need not be an overt obvious threat. However, the mere fact that you are so large and expansionist in nature means that there is a high likelyhood that you will invade anyone nearby.

No, I understand, I'm just saying all we're doing right now is sitting on our beaches giving everyone the evil eye, not actually threatening anyone, per se. Also, we've got a Grand Empire on one border, open expanses on another, and a fortified Island nation (Cyprus) on our third. Odds are we aren't coming anywhere near you or Marcao anytime soon.

I seem to recall the athenians building up their navy when they got word that the Persians were amassing an army of some sort. Sitting on your beaches giving folks the evil eye could certainly be a reason for concern and a valid reason to divert massive amounts of resources to defence of the nation or build military alliances.

Subject: Current situation
It would be difficult if not down right impossible for us to deny the possibilities which are arrayed against our nation. The nation of the so called “three gods” has been a possible source of concern to us for some time, not due to any moves that they have done as of yet, but the possibility of such a move. We find there is no dishonor in admitting that our own strength would be lacking in dealing with the might which the aforementioned nation is capable of directing. As such, we are willing to allow you to send an envoy to our shores in order so both our nations may come to a suitable understanding.

I'm not saying its not, because I'm going to be flattening all of you sooner or later, BUT, in the case of Aly and Marcao, there's no way I'm going to be hitting them any time in the next year or so (in order to hit them I have to kick Pablo off my border, grind Cyprus into the ground, and pacify the rest of Turkey) so I'm just pointing out he's over-reacting to my presence.

Raxmei, let's talk dwarf to dwarf, you and I.
We're right across the North Sea from each other. Neither of us is particularly expansionistic with the exception of me having some ambitions on the unclaimed regions of England (which as I recall, go to me anyway if they remain unclaimed). We share species ties. We have some common goals in trade and so forth. I don't think either of us could have asked for a better neighbor or ally. What do you say?

Re: The Jihad
With the rising possibility of invasion of the continent by the barbarian horde we have been monitoring, it is reaching the point where we require allies. Both for actual military action, and for the support network our Dreadnoughts require. We therefore wish to renew and strengthen our ties together, for mutual defense. We will be sending someone to speak with your Council, and hopefully, extend our reach to others endangered by the Horde.

In the Stone Hall 10 men and 2 women agrued and a number of men and women watched on silently.
"The Sky Fathers are honorable men. They have traded fair and treated wisly in the past. The horde comes with more men than waves in the sea. It is the path to take their aid!" Called out Tapper standing tall and straight his sword hanging at his side. He wore the dyed leather of a windrunner and his arms were scarred has proof of his rank and victories over his short life. He was barely out of his youth but was widely celebrated amoung the tribes has the next great hero.
"The spirits do not call in favor of this!" Hollered back an old Shamen. Malcek, he was named, bent and wizen with age. He was the oldest man in the counsil and some whispered that he was falling victum to ravages that visited the grandfathers from time to time. He could barely stand from his hide covered seat.
"They do not call in disfavor of this either. We are not their slaves to run to the spirits for every thought in life. The spirits bid us stand on our own feet!" An older women, a Shameness call out. Nasothia, a women with a hard and biting tounge has her many grandchildren could attest.
The vote was made, Tapper had his way. He walked out of the long stone hall, in the middle of the sole town in WolGar lands, he gazed for a second upon it's high thick walls, legendary walls said to have been raised by earth elementals. He then turned to the Sky Father herald.
"Tell the Sky Father we will happyly take salt and speak of affairs with his man. We are eager to aid him in whatever way we can and will do the upmost to help resist the horde."

Re: Support Network
Greetings and Salutations your Majesty,
The nation of "The Three Gods" has become, as I am sure you are aware, aggressive as of late. I am also aware that your airships are in need of significant support in order to function at great distances from your capital. Worry not, this is due to inference only. We wish to offer an exchange. You recieve our logistic support in exchange for military support by said airships should our neighbors across the straights attack us. We will also provide any military support you may require from our Dragon cohorts, should you be attacked by boistrous neighbors.

Re: Support Network
You are correct in your assessment of our need for logistical infrastructure on the Continent. We are preparing for moves to dissuade the Hordes advance, and your offer could not have come at a more opimum time. We will arrange for information of the materials and structures required for an operational airbase. Also, we will be gathering what allies we can to the island of Cyprus soon; we are to offer the locals assistance against the Horde. If you will stand against them, we make our stand there.

Re: The Jihad and Sundry
Greetings to your respective Majesties. It has come to our attention that the barbarian jihad will require more troops than we are able to field in order to defend our nation against the hordes. We would like to take this opportunity to extend the hand of friendship, with the intentions of a potential alliance. We eagerly await your reply.

Letters to the Council of the Alidrial, Cyprus, Republic of Karsinia, and Kingdom of Gondor
You are no doubt aware of the greatest recent change in the politics and future of the mediterranean region: the recent rise of the fanatic jihaddi. Their rhetoric of conquest is clear and damning evidence of their aggressive intent, and they threaten our common future as free nations trading on the inland ocean. We must either stand together or fall apart in the face of these people, against whom no argument but force of arms can be made.
Thus the City Councils of the Confederation of Andalus propose a defensive pact, valid only against the fanatic jihaddi. Let our armies work together in the common interest.
Council Chairman Karim Barca
----
Letter to the Ethereal Realm of Masotan
We request an understanding concerning the fanatic spread of the jihaddi in the Mediterranean. Already they have strangled the flow of trade from Egypt and the Levant, and they seek to expand ever further. It would be in the common interest of both our nations to oppose them.

Re: The Horde
Let us not mince words: Cyprus wishes a military alliance to deter possible invasion. And the Principality is quite interested in blunting the Horde's progression. To this end, we agree to speak on the basics of a multi-part defensive alliance against the threat the Horde poses. We will ferry representatives from our allies to Cyprus to discuss matters in person. With your permission, we will also bring three of our Dreadnoughts, and what allied troops they can bear, in the event of a Horde attack to disrupt the talks.

It is most fortuitous that a nation such as yours wishes to join in such a pact. And we accept the invitation with enthusiasm and joy. May this mark the day of a new age in cooperation against a common enemy.
