sounds like it, man. While I can't point out specific issues on this, though...To be fair, I've seen televisions do similar things and last for years, but monitors aren't quite as hardy as 1970's-era TVs, either. My advice is to start saving now for an el-cheapo™ brand monitor if you don't do much gaming. if you do do gaming, then....Ebay?

Folks, I wish ya'll would actually troubleshoot the problem before saying buy a new one. This could EASILY just be a faulty wire in the data cable. Unplug the cable from your video card, rotate it all the way around and plug it back in. (You can do this while the system is running.) This usually happens when the cable has been left in a kink for a long time. The wiring will get brittle, and when you move the cable, a wire or two will snap. I see this happen all the time, and not just with monitor cables.

If it's not the cable at fault, the green electron gun could have lost alignment. Which is usually not an indication of failure, but re-alignment needs to be done by a CRT expert and that's usually expensive.

Note: This is usually done by turning a POT on the tube itself. Atleast thats the way it was done on the TVs I've fooled with. Still, you need to watch yourself. 30,000VAC is not something you want to play with if you don't know what you're doing.

Actually Vertigo has a point, I've seen both primary color loss due to a faulty cable and due to a busted electron gun. It would be worth a shot to try replacing the cable, assuming that you get the replacement from a computer store with a good return policy.

Thats if its removable. If its not, you need to look up in the phone book for a place that services monitors and see if they have a monitor just like yours that they're willing to swap out cables with. Not every monitor manufacturer follows the same pin layouts connected to the monitor's motherboard.
