Dawn of War expansion: what race should be added?
IF there comes an expension (I don't see why not) and only one race is added, which would you like the most?
For me, I'd love to see Necrons

Necrons would be nice. But realisticly they are too new.
Ok yes technicaly they are the oldest race in existence thats still alive, but you know what I mean
If you had to add one of the classic races, it would have to be the nids. The biological threat of Doom. Possibly the Blood Ravens getting shifted around to deal with a splinter of a hive fleet acorss several planets...except the last one is actulay a Necron Toombworld and said robots are mighty pissed at the noise on the surface and come up to take a look

Guard, Guard, Guard, Guard, and Guard.
Tyranids would be my second choice, for a distinctly different feel as a new race, not even being humanoid like the current four.

NOT Tyranid. Nothing inherently wrong with them, but the game is already so very, very Starcrafty it's not even funny. Yes, Stacraft ripped the Tyranid to create the Zerg. No, it's not fair to have to avoid a ripoff of your own theme. But as I said, DoW already has Terrans and Prot..er...Eldar, even a High Tem...er...Farseer...and Pylo...er...Webway Gates. More Starcraft-like-ness is not a good thing. Personally, I'd like to see no new races, but more fleshing-out of the existing ones, more tactical options, that sort of thing.

There's no "if" about it, buster. Didn't you notice the bigass cliffhanger at the end of the campaign?wautd wrote:IF there comes an expension (I don't see why not) and only one race is added, which would you like the most?

It all depends on sales. From what I've heard so far, DoW sales have blown away expections, selling out in many places. So an expansion/sequel is looking likely, but remember that Relic, THQ, and Games Workshop are working with tight budgets.Rogue 9 wrote:There's no "if" about it, buster. Here's an interesting thought...diminshing returns on unit caps. So that if you had, say, three marine squads, they'd cost 2, but the 4th would cost 3, and the fifth 4...etc. Ditto for, well, everything else, in some form or another. Make homogenous swarming tactics far, far less attractive. Yeah, I wandered a bit off-topic, but that's just my musing on expansion possibilities.

Okay, if they leave a cliffhanger like that and then proceed to not follow through, I'm gonna be pissed. I'm already pissed that they left such an obvious cliffhanger and ended after only eleven missions as it is.JediNeophyte wrote:It all depends on sales. Graphics today aren't advanced enough to do the necrons justice, as far as I know. The necrons would result in major deformation of scenery with every shot they fired (see Caves of Ice), and in all likelyhood raise the game's rating to 18. Given that their basic weapon flays people to nothing, guess what glancing wounds do... I suppose it could be done, but not well enough to suit me. I voted for Dark Eldar. They're fun, but easier to do...

DoW's already rated Mature for violence and gore.
And Dark Eldar are even gorier than Necrons.

Pretty much why I vote for the Tyrries. Ugly Bio bastards and honestly on large scale war...so wonderful to see a screaming horde of relentless death that hiss at you.weemadando wrote:I voted 'nids because be damned if I don't want Lictors and Hormogaunts and goddamn motherfucking Barbed Hierodules.

Coding a gauss flayer tearing a hole through a hill and out the other side is a bit harder than simply making a Barbed Strangler anim.weemadando wrote: Barbed Stranglers will do FAR worse things than gauss-flayers.
