I got a Visioneer 4400 scanner running in windows xp which when scanning in color has a blue tint to the image (not it black/white or greyscale). I have tried:
a)restarting application
b)restarting windows
c)uninstalling/reinstalling scanner
d)downloading latest drivers, reinstalling scanner, restarting windows
e)swearing at the scanner
f)go to visioneer tech support (they say my product is "a dying model" and to buy a new scanner).
Help anyone?

Dirt on the scannerbed? Try cleaning it with some windowcleaner. DONT! spray on the scanner spray on some tissue and wipe the scanner clean

When phongn mentioned the blue bulb i checked and when its doing color, the bulb looks blueish, however when its doing black and white, its fine. Thats the part which really confuses me. I also tried cleaning the glass to no effect. As for the cable, its a cable i can't get another of without buying a new scanner and if that was the problem then why not blue as well in b/w?

Black and white mode simply scans for total intensity in most scanners. While blue is being overrepresented, the scanner isn't looking at specific colors in B&W mode (only how bright a given spot is), so you won't see any real effect.Terr Fangbite wrote:When phongn mentioned the blue bulb i checked and when its doing color, the bulb looks blueish, however when its doing black and white, its fine.
