Just so you guys know:

The major forum where this ARG (Alternate Reality Game) was played is located here:

www.argn.com

Ilovebees was amazing: There were live calls to the players from the in-game characters, puzzles solved by decoding GPS coordinates and answering payphones at said coordinates...man, it was a trip to watch ;)

Wow. Just... wow.

In case you HALO fans weren't sure about whether or not to keep up with this or not... do so. Chapter 11 was just released, and it... well, without spoiling it, let's just say it explains a major plot point for HALO 2.

So stop making excuses, and download all the audio files from either the actual I Love Bees site:

http://www.ilovebees.com/humptydumpty.html

Or the repository at ARGN:

http://www.argn.com/archives/ilb/index. ... S%3D%3D%3D

And listen to them in order. Oh... make sure you've got time set aside. It's over five hours of audio goodness.

Yes, but actually hearing it all is so much better...

During the culmination of the events, a device is triggered that sends out a massive wave of energy, which basically is a giant homing beacon for the Covenant to find Earth.

You won't get it at all unless you listen to the previous 100 MB of audio.

Fun.

I don't suppose we know why the covvies hate us, yet? Unless they're just a Pfhor rehash with religious leanings, which seems to be the case..

What the fuck is this shit? I don't get it, can someone at least tell me what I'm looking at? I checked out the Wiki, and it isn't making sense either...some kind of context is needed, it's like walking into a room and trying to join a conversation and you have no knowledge of the subject. :?

It's an alternate reality game. I don't fully understand all the ins and outs myself, as I'm not a participant and therefore haven't spend the better part of two months with the luxury of sorting this out as it was slowly released. Now that it's over and all the material is on the site in a jumbled mess all at the same time, it's much harder to decipher.

The part that's the easiest to make sense of is here. If you can stand to take a story in audio format (I know several who can't, for some unfathomable reason, but whatever) those clips there tell a very interesting tale. It won't help you figure out the game unless you're far better at puzzling things out that I, but it tells a good story on it's own anyway. That's all I'm interested in from that site at this point.

*delurk*

I don't post here becaue I am unable to *intelligently* debate and rather value my skin, but I'd like to say that once you're done with all 5 hours of the Ch 1-11, there's another 30 mintues or so of the last chapter (12) at http://www.ilovebees.com/contactme.html

It runs from top to bottom. Click the .wav names like "little_bottle" for access, of course.

For that, I will not kick your ass in debate should you ever decide to delurk. Thanks! :D

Personaly I thought the whole thing was stupid. Nice gimik and good idea, but poorly executed. And FAR too focused in the US, the rest of the world could only shrug and say 'whatever'.

I've got Halo, the novels and love the universe, but this didn't hold my attention even sligtly.

Then you suck. No, seriously. Because it means you can't appreciate good drama. Who cares if it's not about the Master Chief? He's not the only human left, y'know.

"Poorly executed"? With the exception of Peacekeeper Wars, this was better characterization and plot than anything I've seen on television for at least six months.

This audiodrama gave a ton of insight into how the military works (details about the SPARTAN I and II projects, how military AIs are controlled, etc), the relative timeframe between the events of Halo 1 and Halo 2, how the Covenant find Earth, why they aren't simply glassing it, and probably a bunch of other stuff I'm forgetting.

Is there a website on the internet where someone with far too much free time has created a transcript of these things?

Click on "The Axon Plot (transcriptions)"

The non-audio files (on the ilovebees website itself) such as The Operator's Monologue are also transcribed at "Full-Text Timeline".

He might be talking poorly executed as in a lack of pretty explosions to gawk at, since it's just sound. :P Television has been the death of the imagination.

I'm listening to it all with Utsanomiko. We're just about to start the Week 11 clip. He agrees, it is pure gold.

Is this offical or fan fiction?
Devolution is quite as natural as evolution, and may be just as pleasing, or even a good deal more pleasing, to God. If the average man is made in God's image, then a man such as Beethoven or Aristotle is plainly superior to God, and so God may be jealous of him, and eager to see his superiority perish with his bodily frame.

Official- Microsoft and Bungie hired 4ourty2wo (the makers of the AI Game "The Beast", if you're in the know.) to produce it.
It's below the novels and games in Canon, but still is, IIRC.

I did NOT say it had to only be about the MC. I don't care if it has many other characters. THe HALO novels for example had many other characters throughout who never were seen in the game. So please don't try and put words in my mouth.

"Poorly executed"? With the exception of Peacekeeper Wars, this was better characterization and plot than anything I've seen on television for at least six months.
...Riiight. If you think its that good and are that fanatical about it, I'm frankly not even going to try and debate the point with you.

All I'll say is just about everything you mention here is covered in greater depth in the novels "The Fall of Reach" and "First Strike" and in a better presentation to boot. Not to mention the events are far less contrived. THe Covenent find Reach for example by carefuly attaching a super advanced homing beacon to a Human Ship when it heads through a debris field. The relationship between the Humans, Foreunners and Covenent is subtily sketched in the books, not blasted at you.

But I'm not going to debate the merits of the site. You like it, I don't. You say I suck because I don't like a grossly simplistic facet that unfortunantly might be canon, thats fine. Don't expect me to loose any sleep over it.
