when I open a new window for internet explorer, it gives me 30 or so boxes saying "an error has occured in the script on this page" "sysrealwinopen is undefined".

every now and then it opens an infinite number of explorer windows. any idea whats going on?

That sounds like one of the browser helper objects loaded is malfunctioning. It could be that something's added an illicit BHO to your system that isn't working correctly. Have you performed a spyware scan lately?

If you've already mucked out the spyware, you might try disabling the other BHOs -- go to "Windows\Downloaded Program Files" and move everything in that folder somewhere else (but note where you put them!). Start moving them back one by one and restarting IE each time you do until you hit the one causing the problem. Remove that one again and move everything else back.

Open IE, tools, internet options, advance and click "disable script debugging" for both options (IE and other), and unmark "notify about every script error".

Enjoy

Have it save the scan to a log file. Open the log file by double clicking on it. Copy and paste the contents to this board for perusal by members. Someone smart in the divining of what's malicious will help you from there... (ps, Use a quote or code box for the output, reading it is a bitch otherwise)

On the original point, did this manage to fix your problem (with the script errors popping up)? With the sheer amount of spyware on your box, it's surprising that you didn't run into issues sooner. Sorry I didn't get around to answering your questions sooner, but it looks like Ein beat me to it. Well, follow his advice and you should be able to remain clean in the future.
