With less than 24 hours left till it's release, I decided to go ahead and start up the thread for it. So, who all is ready to start playing come midnight?

I wish, but I haven't got a third of the machine needed to effectively run that hoss.

Steam has long since gone from evil to wonderful and functional.
Don't get me wrong, I was very much against steam, I was in the first closed beta for it, it was a real mess back then. Though on the up-hand we did get to try out new versions of DoD... and CS. It crashed, it was slow, it took forever too connect.

Now it's great! Even dial-up folks can use it... just so long as they don't load games through it.

I myself most likely won't get much time in until tuesday afternoon, got an important test tuesday. Which means between today @2pm and Tomorrow at 3am I'll be devoted to studying.

Steam is around 40x better than when it was first released, Valve learned their lesson from the first few releases and its now pretty much seamless

It can play with even less than half the requirements of Doom 3.

By the way, I know exactly when the delivery is supposed to be at Gamestop. So I'll be waiting for my copy of the precious.

Well it's cheaper and there is a bunch of extras in the silver package so I guess I'll be getting that one.

Only thing I have against it is how it torments me - "A locked copy of Half-Life 2 has been preloaded onto your computer"

Labs tomorow mean I won't get to play it until after lunch though T_T

Now it is on my computer... Have to wait till tomorrow evening to play... Damn work... Would look suspicious to be "ill" at work... <grrr>

Me too, sort of. I've pretty much got all the requirements except for the graphics card.

I'm getting it when I get a new PC at Xmas. I've waited an additional year for this game, another month or so won't kill me.

What are the various packages (silver or whatever) you can buy, what do they come with and how much?

Gold includes: A number of HL mods redone in Source, 3 posters, the soundtrack, a City-17 post-card, the official strategy guide (apparently a good read) and some other stuff.

Silver includes: IIRC, the source mods, and something else. Halflife2.net might have more info.

Okey, and tommarow, at midnight EST or PST(not sure) the NDA will be lifted, which means a deluge of movies, reviews and all.

PST, all game companies use PST. I guess it's because they live there or something crazy like that.

Probebly, though some places use EST or GMT.

Then PST, 10 hours back, so for once, if the mods allow, I will post my GS pass in HoS, to allow everyone full acess to stuff who wants it

Assuming you mean Gamespy, that's a good way to get your account disabled.

Gamespot gives it a 9.2. But it confirms that the only official multiplayer is Counter-Strike. Damnit! Who else wanted Gravity Gun fights?

I agree, I would have liked to of seen that.

The gamespy review I just read said the same exact thing. But you know what, I'd wager that by the time we are done with the single player there'll be a map/mod out which makes FULL use the gravity gun.
