Is anyone else planning on getting this when it comes out? I'm hoping they've actually upgraded some things from KOTOR (which I liked) and not just given us the same game engine with a new plot.

I played an early beta. From the looks of things, the engine hasn't changed all that much from KOTOR, although there are some neat improvements. It seems like the idea was to get a quick sequel out (a la Vice City) before moving onto a new engine for KOTOR 3. Realistically, this was the only way we'd see a new KOTOR game in anything short of four years.

I wish they'd make the combat more fun. I hate "que-it-up-and-let-it-run" style.

I second that! Kotor is one of the best Star Wars games ever. I really hope they fix some of the XboX glitches. However, I'll avoid these by buying the PC version.

Although the additions to the game sound small, some of them could be quite significant in impact. For a start you can actually have your own apprentice this time, so not only do you get to act how you like, you can twist others in your mighty image.

Plus it has one of the finest designers in the industry working on it.

1) Light/Dark actions that aren't saturday-morning-cartoon charicatures of Good and Evil.

2) Characters who aren't totally oblivious to you being, approximately, Satan.

3) Lightsaber combat needs work. A /lot/ of work, on an aesthetic level. ESPECIALLY duelling.

4) I'd like to see the combat flow better, instead of having very obvious pauses where everyone says 'alright, next turn.'

5) Storyline branching that is determined by your actions at several points during the game, not a dialog choice made at the very end.

6) Storyline branching that has an effect on what happens after the branch, beyond the superficial few different conversations and one or two altered fight scenes.

7) ATI support that doesn't suck big fat donkey testes. Dear god.

Don't get me wrong, it's an awesome game, which is why those parts that aren't awesome stand out like a sore thumb.

Oh, and 8) There are hundreds of thousands of inhabited worlds. No one gives a flying fuck about Tatooine, Kashyyk, and Dantooine just because they're mentioned in or related to characters in an adventure that will occur in four fucking thousand years. Jesus.

Oh come on, that's half the fun! "Hmm... should I cheat the short, trusting Jawa? Should I honour our agreement? Should I throw him into the path of that Bantha? Decisions, decisions."

Agreed. No game is perfect.

Ok, I completely agree with you on Tatooine, but as for Dantooine and Kashyyyk, I can't: those places rocked. Well, Dantooine didn't so much rock as it was just something new. But Kashyyyk was something cool.

I just hope it will have a droid like HK-47. The 4000 credits was so worth the dialog he provided. I stayed true to the lightside and didn't threaten the meatbag shopkeeper to save 1500 credits. My favorite conversation pieces with HK-47

"It's just that, you have all these squishy parts master. And all that water. How the constant sloshing around doesn't drive you mad, I have no idea."
" I shall now meditate upon the face of my former meatbag master as he was electricuted. I find the image rather soothing."

They should. The original gave you that. :)

Come on, don't tell me the dialogue and possible actions weren't way cooler when you went over to the Dark Side... *evil chuckle*

Yes, they were...that and you could bully people :P

Maybe more, really...like you could truly put the fear of the Sith into the rabble as you proudly become the dominant Sith lord.

Though the idea of this Padawan emulating you. I wonder how well.

So for the Light side he becomes an ass kisser, and for the dark he becomes your whipping boy asking you to spank him for being bad...or will that be your love interest girlfriend? :P

You really think there's another droid like HK in the galaxy? It would be the end of life as we know it...

You might well meet up with the Real Deal though. After all, T3-M4 is going to be back.

Actually, there will be an HK droid in the sequel. He won't be the same HK-47 (at least as far as I know), but there will be one in the HK series.

One thing that would've been nice in the first KOTOR was a lesbian relationship between a female character (if you chose to be one) and Bastila.

Playing KOTOR actually introducted me to the d20 gaming system - which I had despised up to that point. I ended up going out and buying the Star Wars d20 game from WOTC. Still haven't played it, though...

Given it's either her bitching or Carth's Whining.

Would say Light side either way...just you have something better to stare at later down the road.

She gets a nice underwear difference...sorta.

I like the bra and panties of the light side though.

Believe me, the d20 flavor KotoR uses is absolutely perfect if you want to emulate a computer game on tabletop. If you don't, however, it's one of the worst systems known to man.

Come on, you didn't think I was gonna let that go, didja? ;)
