Dante (devil may cry) vs Alucard (Castlevania SOTN) BattleGround: Large Castle, cannot go outside of it. Monsters from both games will be trying to kill them as they try to kill eachother

Powers, equipment and skills: Any and all powers they would have at the end of the game

Snake (metal gear solid) vs Sam Fisher (Splinter Cell) BattleGround: Deserted military base. One on One

Powers equipment and skills: Anything they would have at the end of their game

Hotsuma (Shinobi) vs Ryu Hayabusa (Ninja Gaiden) BattleGround: 100 x 100 Ft inclosed area. One on One

Powers equipment and skills: Same as previous

Carl “CJ” Johnson (GTA: SA) vs Tommy Vercetti (GTA:VC) BattleGround: New York City (Today). They can’t leave the city. Cops will be chasing them and citizens will get in way or be used to their advantage

Equipment: Whatever they can steal, deal and get from anyone just like the game

MasterChief vs Half-life 2

Scenario: MasterChief is inserted into the Half-life 2 universe and tries to survive to see the end

Equipment: Just his armor and whatever he can get his hands on in

Gordon Freeman vs Halo 2

Scenario: Gordon is inserted into the Halo 2 universe and tries to survive to see the end

Equipment: Just his hazard suit and whatever he can get his hands on. For the sake of argument we’ll say that there are randomly inserted energy stations for him. No health packs though

Discuss who wins, or what not

Correction - in the HALO2 universe there can very well be a gravity gun (its now as much a part of Gordon as a crowbar) but it would be useless in the HALO2 universe:

THERE ARE NO PHYSICS.

Although intriguingly, Gordon Freeman would instantly fall to the ground, reduced to only a POV with two forearms, due to the nature of HAVING FEET AND A BODY in HALO2

There are physics. If you mean fall damage, that was because the sword was causing problems with it. If you were above someone, and used the sword on them, you could have accelerated to the point where you would die upon hitting the ground.

Can't really say, since I havn't played DMC - since Dante has duel pistols and near Matrix-like feats according to demo videos I've seen, however, I'd call it in his favor. Alucard might have a great number of mystic abilities, but he's limited in range with normal attacks and might have only limited range with his spells (Dante might be able to pick him off from 3 screens worth of distance away).
Snake (metal gear solid) vs Sam Fisher (Splinter Cell)
Solid Snake, hands down: Sam Fisher might be a super-spie, but he's going up against a super-soldier bred for combat proweress, and from my plays of Splinter Cell, he's pitiful in melee combat (even his weapons suck - it took two shots from his pistol to take down a measly police officer with headshots)..
Hotsuma (Shinobi) vs Ryu Hayabusa (Ninja Gaiden)
Can't say - never played either one, nor seen Shinobi in a decent-enough amount to make judgement.
Carl “CJ” Johnson (GTA: SA) vs Tommy Vercetti (GTA:VC)
Can't say - havn't seen GTA:SA in any decent amount to make judgement, being a 'Box man.
MasterChief vs Half-life 2
Master Chief, I suppose. Havn't seen HL2, but from what I've read and from memories of HL1, his alterations and armor make up for any possible advantage the HEV might give Freeman.
Gordon Freeman vs Halo 2
Given the right equipment, I suppose Freeman could cut it. No flipping of vehicles in case of accidents, though, and I doubt he's enough proweress to 'jack the vehicles of the enemy.

Note does Master Chief recived the near god-hood status of Freemand and is given the same rep?

Minus that its a whole lot harder to survive as they only struck back because its THE Freeman

Here's one I thought of:
Master Chief vs MegaMan X vs Samus Aran from Metroid.

Who wins?

To the original posts- on none of those matchups have I actually played both games

To my post: Personally, I go with Samus. Samus has a 99 point health meter and 10 to 20 energy tanks (depending which game, Prime is 10 IIRC and all the 2D games including GBA are 20), a 'yellow ball of death' weapon, and a ton of cool stuff (including something to freeze people in place, a flamethrower, super-missles, and a plasma gun. w00t!). MegaMan X has a 32 point health bar at max and only 4 energy tanks. He has a chargeable 'yellow ball of death' weapon, and a close-range saber weapon (try that on someone with a flamethrower! :) ). And Master Chief has a bunch of guns, a small amount of health but a rechargeable shield (no time to recharge when you're being blasted by Samus).

X has been blasted in the face with flamethrowers several times over the course of his adventures, and it only does a few points of damage. He also regularily undertakes missions inside of active volcanoes, with the heat not affecting his performance in any way. Samus, on the other hand, takes damage if the room she's in is too hot.

Her 'current' suit (the Varia I think) gives her pretty good protection against heat. It was the old one (the one you start with in Prime) that is vulnerable to heat. In Prime2 they don't knock her down that far at the start.

I want MC in Super Smash Brothers. That'd be sweet :)

Only if she has the weakest suit. We're assuming the combatants are at their maximum potential- they both suck in their basic forms.

On max level, Samus has a force field over her armor, is completely involnerable to heat short of lava which slowly does damage (note that X is killed instantly by lava), and even gets a Plasma beam while X still has his original weapon (note that in X6 you could get an upgrade for a triple shot or an instant charge, but those were really, really hard to find and not part of the normal gameplay stuff you find).

And Samus's evil flamethrower of doom is a PLASMA/missle combo plasma blast. Plasma > lava. Lava > X, usually.

Only the girly version of the Gravity Suit from Prime.

If we're looking at the most current Samus, she has complete protection from lava even without the outer suit armour, a wall-penetrating Ice Beam and Ice Missiles with a wide blast radius, both of which display very high lethality.

That, of course, and her ability to Space Jump, and if the others try to get away, Shinecharge and Shinespark.

The right man in the wrong place, the g-man said. Despite the Spartan power armor if some sort of guy in power armor walked off the train at a combine train stop he wouldn't last very long. Sure he's got a considerable technological advantage (though compared to the combine, not quite as much), but he wouldn't make it out of the train station. The whole place is shielded off to prevent escape escape the conventional way, and he'll be mobbed by Combine soldiers in short order - lots of them. He's the wrong man, sorry.

Gordon freeman isn't the uber commando that a spartan is. Remember, Gordon Freeman is the right man in the wrong place (or the right place, depending on how you look at it). At most he is a resistance fighter. To be very honest; the bit where you have to walk outside the gun platform, that'd be the end of him - as his hazard suit is not vaccum sealed.

Sometimes he is, sometimes he isn't. The lava at the end of X3 only did a few points of damage when he touched it.

Hell, he might not even need to go into battle himself. If his cyber-elf form can take control of Samus' suit, he can end the battle easily without exposing his real body to any kind of danger.

If he started out like Freeman does - ie without his armor and then got it later (at the same time Freeman gets his HEV) he would definitely make it through. Of course, he'd probably need help just like Freeman did.

Too bad that, as a Spartan, he has no sex drive. :P
Though we are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are,--
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

*shrug*, is the resistance going to help him? The only reason Gordon didn't get sent to Nova Prospekt right off that bad is because Barney recognized him. It was pure "luck" (g-man luck that is). If he was in his standard civilian clothing he'd prolly just be "some guy", barney wouldn't have given him a second thought, and off MC goes.

Like I said; right man. Gordon Freeman was the right man.

The Master Chief could *easily* have slaughtered every guard in that opening train station with his bare hands, torn through the wire mesh fences, and headed to freedom. He wouldn't need Barney's help.
