"Funcom announces that Anarchy Online will be the first major western live MMO without a subscription fee. In a unique move Funcom is removing all cost barriers in the ultimate sci-fi MMORPG, allowing all new players to enter and stay, free of cost! At the same time Funcom is departing from the obligatory need to register with a credit card, making for an easier entrance and registration process."

The offer lasts until January 15th. I haven't tried the game myself yet.

The game on release was a steaming POS

The game within four months was a wonderful sci-fi romp with a deep and enganging storyline that had some semi-blance of affect on gameplay
Within a year it had an even deeper and more intresting storyline that lost any semblance of interaction with the game and become nearly completly limited to web posts only

Within three years and Shadowland's relesae level limits it become a EQ Lite clone

And the funnist part of the game was nerfed into oblivion(Super buffing whereby a Level 10 charater could run around with level 50 gear or level 50s could run around with level 140 gear)
Twinkage I miss thee

I take it you don't like Shadowlands.
I'd always thought it was the best addition to the game, good enough for me to renew my subscription. After a couple months, though, I realized why I hated MMORPGs and canceled it again.

Hahaha, at least it didn't go the direction of EQLive. Now that's a good example of an MMOG that, if a human, would be declared clinically brain-dead and only alive because of expensive machines only affordable by the rich and painfully wealthy...

I LOVEd the idea of Shadowlands, I hated forced progression and even crazier level limited items

But Perks? Perks were the shiznits
