Developed by Nerve software under the supervision of id Software, Doom3: Ressuraction of Hell takes you right back inside the UAC dig site for another rendezvous with the hellspawn. And this time, you can expect a satisfying resolution to the cliffhanger ending of Dr. Betruger's demonized new incaration
Finally, end to the cliff hangers.

Oh, you haven't heard about this yet?

Yeah, they're going to have a new weapon. That lets you pick up objects and throw them. Called the Grabber.

I hear they're going to call it "Doom 3: Shameless Ripoffs of Better FPS Games".

and the double-barreled shotgun

one of the new enemies just looks like a Lost Soul with spikes, though. That's kinda lame.

Hahahaha, that's hilarious!

Here's hoping they managed to install adequate lighting this time, hopefully they've programmed some friendly AI too, that would be great.

Eh, D3 wasn't /BAD/, just...not nearly as good as everyone was wanking it would be. Me, I couldn't stand the original, so I went into D3 expecting a very pretty game that would otherwise be very bland. And I was actually PLEASANTLY surprised by the quality of the game. All depends on what you went into it expecting. That said, I don't own it, and I don't intend to until and unless I see it on the Cheapass Bargain Rack. The engine I care about, the game...eh, not really. Sadly, it's too high-end to be good for a large-scale combat game, but I'd like to see an RPG using it...that kind of massive detail and such would absolutely rock in the smaller, more controllable settings of a CRPG.

Eh, it's not unprecidented. Doom 3's plot and setting was, after all, a carbon copy of HLs' with the removal of the good bits. I expect nothing less from the grabber-ty gun.

Doom 3's plot and setting was a rip-off of Doom. I think it'd also be fair to say that Half-Life borrowed the concept of "scientific blunder, monsters show up, wreak havoc" from Doom, as well.

Marathon makes them both look like ass anyhow.

Hrmf. The plot specifics are nearly identical.
New guy goes in to do an ordinary job, odd beings materialise all over the base he's at.
He has to fight his way to the teleporter machines and go to the alien's realm.

Etc.

Edit: Done on purpose, government plot, etc.

Wow, just like in the original Doom.

Point taken.

Half-Life's still better than Doom 3, though. :P

Yeah, Half-Life's better than Doom 3. Now shut up.

Me, I thought Doom 3 was plenty fun, completely independently of other games. I hope the expansion brings back the "chamber O' Mass-Monster death" concept that was pretty prevalent throughout the original Doom games. I understand the lack thereof - engine limits, y'know - and appreciate the consistent game atmosphere, but c'mon... I wanna have the deathtraps that start pumping out fifty enemies in one massive arena.

Maybe iD figgered that Serious Sam did it so much better and didn't even bother?

So because its ripping off another game(which ripped off bullet times from movies IIRC), its bad? Maybe their execution is differant, kind of like FEAR's implementation.

So far from reading the article theres hints that some other weird powers might be, with the final showdown allmost exclusivly relaying on that.

If they can impliment bullet time better, fine. But excuse me if I call bullshit if you think they can do a gravity gun better than THE Gravity Gun.

Well, they could make it able to push old rusted trucks, the Gravity Gun can't do that. :P ;)

Did I say that? no, also, outside of the specific context of HL, I don't think the Gravity gun is that usful.

UT2k4 had a gravity gun a while ago; its implemented without karma extensions, so its no that useful, but you CAN crush turrets with tanks, throw people over walls, etc. Sure, it was inspired by HL2 trailers, but hey :D

Jiminy, the Half-Life fanbourgeois didn't hesitate in the slightest to deify their little game, did they? I can see the ad lines for the third game... "Half-Life 3: Better Than Sex". And they'll believe it!

Anyway, if you wanna talk about Half-Life, go find, y'know, a Half-Life thread. Fuckin' pikers...
