DoW-- RAM problems-- NEED HELP

Okay, here's the situation. I'm running a Compaq Presario 2100 laptop, 256 RAM (minimum required for DoW), about ~40 gig (of which about 20 is currently free space right now) HD.

DoW installed just fine-- the graphics test went alright as well-- but when I try to play, I get the message "Not enough physical memory".

Now, I presume this is a RAM thing?

1.) How do I fix this without having to buy any extra pieces (if that's the answer)?

2.) Please, please be kind and explain step by step if there's any solution... I'm functionally literate regarding computers, but I can't make them sing and dance like some people here on the board. A big, massive, huge bowl of cookies awaits you if you provide help here...

what type of processor is on it? and if you have a built in graphics card. . .you might be screwed if your graphics performance doesn't meet the minimum requirements by the game. since that's just as important as ram. especially if it's one of those cheap-ass 64 meg integrated graphics chips. usually it's best to run at above the minimum operating system requirements for most modern games, since the minimum requirements might wind up fucking you over.

It's also entirely possible that the video setup is sharing over a decent chunk of your physical RAM for video RAM...so you may only have like 192mb of available RAM as a result. As for a solution...depends on the laptop.
