Computer speaker problem

Ok, so after reading some stuff online about Logitech speakers I had to get a set for Christmas, and I got the Z-5500. It work(ed) beautifully. I didn't have the cables I needed to hook them to my DVD player and Xbox, so I went to Walmart last night to get them. They didn't have the Xbox cable, oh well.

Anyhow so I get home with my digital coax cable in hand, and hook it from the DVD player to my control center. I turn it on. The control center is still saying "No input" from the digital coax, and then I see that the audio rca cables are still plugged into my input switcher for my TV. So, I unplug them. Perhaps this was a bad idea in retrospect (but I don't see why), but a moment after this I heard a crackling noise and then I smelt something a tad bit smokey like electronics burning.

So now, nothing works. Sometimes the test pattern for the speakers run and sometimes it detects my computer's input but there is no sound. Sometimes when I turn it on I get static. What the fuck did I do wrong?

NEVER WORK ON ENGERIZED EQUIPMENT UNLESS YOU HAVE TO!

That said I think its time for you to pull the "it was like this when I got it bit" as it sounds like you shorted something

Black smoke and sparking sounds are never ever your friend
