Know a media player that goes straight to the next track?

Winamp is simply not cutting it when it comes to going from one song to another without any interuptions even if I'm not playing from a CD. I don't want to use WMP either as the sound quality just sucks balls.

Any suggestions?

What kind of interruptions? I never had such problems.

I think Soontir C'boath means gaps appearing between gapless tracks. For instance, the Jeff Wayne rendition of War of the Worlds is meant to be played nonstop with no interruptions between tracks (the "tracks" themselves serve more as bookmarks between major parts). Winamp will default to sticking a gap of 2 seconds between the end and start of every file in the playlist, which kind of puts a crimp in collections like this (its decoder doesn't recognize the flags for added silence or lack thereof, and sticks a uniform silence between tracks). You can try to fix this with one of the many gapless playback plugins at the Winamp homepage. I've linked to one of the more popular ones.

If you really want a different media player, though, can't go wrong with foobar2000. If the song was properly ripped to MP3 (too many tracks aren't), it should have exact data in the headers on how much silence was added to pad out the rest of the last frame and whether it has trailing silence -- foobar2000 will recognize this and deal with it accordingly.

EDIT: Typos seem unavoidable tonight...

WMP10-9 lets be do crossfading of whatever seconds I want, so I have no interuption between tracks, give it a try.

I couldn't install the plug-in you linked to but the other one below is just what I wanted. Though sometimes, it will give a quick burst of static before going to the next track, but I probably won't notice it if I do something.

I don't like the crossfade on WMP. Many songs I have are meant to be played loud from the beginning; less there's a way to change that in which I didn't see.

Thanks, everyone.

iTunes mixes the tunes a bit, so as one is fading out,the other is fading in.

Have you messed with any buffer settings under Winamp's Directsound output?

Just tried it now. After bringing the prebuffer to less than a 1000ms and buffer-ahead to 2000ms, it got faster to get to the next song. Still, I really wish that burst of static would really freakin disapear! It's so short but damn noticeable.

Strange, I use winamp 3, and I've never experienced any problems with track to track transitions unless the next song is stored in a different format. As near as I can tell, Winamp starts loading the next song when the currently playing one gets to about -3 seconds from the end.

Directsound enabled, 2 second buffer, 1.4 second prebuffer.
