Weird monitor

My monitor has been acting up after prolonged usuage. The strange thing is, it acts up selectively.
Now, what happens is that it will start to buzz with a tinny noise, and slowly builds up. It disappears once I switch off the monitor and turn it back on, although its quick to reappear.
However, the strangest thing of all is.......... it only acts up when I'm not surfing SW related sites. As an example, I was tabbing back and forth from SWTC to another site. When I was at SWTC, no noise. Switched to that site, it pops up. And its the same for this site, as well as virtually all SW sites I visited for the last few weeks............

Umm, your monitor has become a big Star Wars fan?
Seriously though, it's probably a problem with one of the electron guns or something. Depending on which is more cost-effective, you'll either have to get it repaired or get a new one.
On the topic of monitors, I have an odd problem with mine. For the past year or so, the pincushion control has been nonfunctional, and so the monitor's been stuck with the sides of the image curving in rather noticeably. Anyone know how to fix this? It's a MAG MX21F, and an ancient one at that (1995). I swear, it's probably the oldest 21-inch monitor in existence.

I sort of figured that out myself. I just have to mention this oddity though:D

Isn't that because the screen is damaged?

Mine is getting the occasional flutter and twinge...but only on Mac-related sites (my PC that is). Jealous, maybe?

It'd lean towards the power supply or something on the mobherboard. If it were a problem with the electron guns, you'd think that the color would change or the screen would distort visibly.

You might be able to adjust that via a POT control on the tube. I know you can do it on older TVs for sure. I'd just watch what you touch though. I'd ask someone else to watch the display while you work on it so you won't be doing two things at once and accidentally shock the shit out of yourself. 30,000 volts will definitely smart.

It's called "Warsie Curse"
Seriously, though, I tend to agree with Vertigo1, 'coz last time I had such problem it turned out to be power-related.
