For some reason it wont work.
I go through the character creation process and then after it goes through the first loading screen it just closes down.
After a few tries i got this message:
failed to lock vertex buffer in CMeshDX8::LockVetexBuffer
I've downloaded the 1.2 patch and it still isn't working.
Anyone know what to do?

Actually, when I tried to install Dan Upright's Patch, a DOS text came up telling me it couldn't install
, was only for the French version of the game. (and no, I didn't took the version "French Translation")

Hmm... what are your specs? I had a similar problem on mine due to having slightly under the recommended RAM.

AMD Athlon XP 2600+ (> 2gig)
512MB RAM
GeForce 4 MX440
Accorcding to the back of the box it supports "all GeForce chipsets", but "some 3D accelerator cards with the chipset listed here may not be compatible with the 3D accelerator utilised ...blah blah<check with the maker>"
Since i'm running HL2 easily and this uses the source engine i assumed it would work.
Do i just need to get the latest drivers again?

Sorry to break it up for ya, but this game takes up even more resources than HL2, so best get ready for playing the game with hiccups
. HL2 runs smoothly in my PC with the settings almost at the top, but with VtM: B... suffice to say that, with the specs all in medium, I've lost several times fights because of the pesky crashes
Updating the drivers seems like a very probable solution
