Argh! Battlefront.exe won't launch (among other problems)

Okay, Battlefront.exe won't launch.
I've been having this problem for a full week now, and it seemed if I double clicked enough times eventually it would start. But now it won't at all.
ARGH.
I've also been having the most annoying problem, basicly, dozens of files scattered across my hard drive with no relation to each other at random will crash Explorer.exe when I right click on them. Heck, to make a copy of a file I have to use the command prompt because Explorer crashes the moment I right click. It's DANG annoying. Battlefront.exe was one of those files. I finally tracked it down to a rogue shell extension and killed the dang thing, and hoped that would fix my problem...but it didn't. I hoped I could at least fix it through compatibility mode or disabling visual themes, etc, now that I could right click, but that didn't work either.
So I'm stumped. How the heck do I get it to launch?
And BTW, I just patched, so it's a new executable as well (i think).
There's nothing wrong with the game data, because if I use the testing executable that was in the SDK it launches fine, but Ican't play with all the debug info scrolling over the screen.

You... don't use Ctrl+C? Forgive me if I misread.
As for your problem, I don't have any suggestions other than a re-install, unfortunately.

Oh, forgot to put that in. It's not just right clicking. Ctrl-C crashes it too, so I have to use command prompt.
That's fixed now, but Battlefront.exe still dies. It just doesn't take Explorer.exe down with it when it does.

LucasArts tech support has the following:
Check to see how much room is available on your hard drive to make sure that you have enough free space for Star Wars Battlefront to run. It is recommended that you have at least 200 MB of free space after installing the game for the Windows swap/page file and save games.
Check to see if you have any other applications running, such as memory managers, screen savers, or virus protection programs.
Make sure that DirectX 9.0c supports the current computer hardware in your system.
Check the settings for your firewall or Internet security program in Windows.
Check that you have the latest video drivers available for your machine.
Check the Star Wars Battlefront CD to see if it is dirty or scratched. The CD-ROM drive may be having trouble reading the CD.
You may have a corrupted installation. Try uninstalling, and then reinstalling Star Wars Battlefront.

1.8 GB on C, 38 GB on D.
I've got AVG running, and Daemon tools, but that never affected it in the past.
I have DX9c installed, all my games run.
Firewall and Internet security stuff would affect online play, not starting it up in the first place.
My drivers ran BF before.
The CD seems to be working fine.
Reinstalling now.

Patch issue maybe? Did this happen on previous and/or the retail version?

It didn't happen before, it started happening around the time of the 1.1 patch (but not immediately after I patched, so I don't think the patch caused it).
