I've got both outlook, IE and my irc client running under these on my computers, I would lock them down more but they start to become unusale past a given point. Makes me feel a lot safer.

Wait, so microsoft is finally doing something unix and linux have been doing since day one? Doesn't surprise me. Maybe in a few more decade's they'll make an os that doesn't need to totally restart after aim crashes.

Funny, I've never had to do that on any Windows operating system from W95 on up.

Also, AFAIK you can't run a program under *nix with restricted user priviledges too easily when you're logged in as root.

Huh? Can't you just use su? Like this, IIRC:

Code: Select all

su username -c "rm -Rf /"

I was refering to the limiting yourself. I could hack into any win9x system just because they assume everyone can do anything. That was what I was pointing at. Also I was pointing at the advice "don't use admin (root) as your default account" which is said in every *nix manual i've ever read.
