Weird Wireless Problem

Recently my laptop decided to stop connecting to my wireless network, claiming it was "not in range" of the signal. This is clearly not the case, as it refuses to work when a foot away from wireless router. It does, however, say that "a wireless connection is available" (it just won't connect) and all the lights on my router are indicating optimum performance.

WTF is the problem? There's no external damage whatsoever...

Really sounds like a hardware problem, because you don't get that message with encryption/SSID issues. Check the connectors on the Access Point's antennae ... is your laptop the only device having issues? If other devices can connect to that AP but the laptop can't, sounds like something in the hardware of the laptop.

Huh. I think I've had this same problem before with my brother's fiancee's laptop. Have you connected it to a landline or bridged it to the NIC recently?
