I recently got Battle Fleet Gothic and need names for Imperial Ships. I've got 8 ships needing names right now and am getting some more soon.
I was going to use just names of Metallica songs but i couldn't find enough that sounded right so looked through my music library.

Here's a list of song names that i think would make good names for Imperial ships.
Opinons, favourites and other suggestions?

Meh. Imperial vessels usually have highblown, pretentious names like "Eternal Vengeance" or "Fist of the Emperor".

'Fight for Your Rights' definitely is not an Imperium theme.

Best trick I can think of? Make two lists.

On one side have words like 'Sword', 'Fist', 'Hammer', etc., and then another list of words like 'Wrath', 'Vengeance', and so on. Then randomly tie them together.

Toss in the occasional 'His' or 'Emperor' for effect. "His Righteous Sword of Wrath" for example, or 'The Emperor's Mighty Fist'.

Shield of Faith might be a good one. I can put together a list of Imperial capital ship names if you want (although that'll have to wait til tommorrow).

Latin is good, too.

Imperial Ships are also named after heroes and by the Imperial Commanders who build them (and they frequently name them after themselves).

Lots of important sounding names are also good choices, like the famous
Lord Solar Macharius.

OK, so I took my first 8 from the list, but i'm going to need some more and i like the sound of the latin ones, so what i need is either an online latin translator or some good names in Latin (and their translations).

To kick things off from the board admins, what do Lex Animata and Lex Eternus mean?

Living Law and Eternal Law, respectively, I believe.

Latin Names, related to the emperor, these aren't perfect translations, and I'm sure I messed up the conjugations...
Validus Imperator - The Mighty Emperor
Suus Mos - His will

In terms of 40K, it's strictly dog-latin, though. So, the ship would be called 'His Will' rather than 'Suus Mos'. Basically, add '-icus' to the end of words :)

OK, so my current latin name list satnds at:

Lex Animata - Living Law
Lex Eternus - Eternal Law (Probably as sister shipes)
Validus Imperator - The Mighty Emperor
Suus Mos - His will

I did a quick search for one of those "handy latin phrases" sites and came up with the following. I'd like some more serious ones, but in case i don't get any here are the ones that i'm considering:

Veritas - truth
Feles mala - bad kitty
Ecce hora - look at the time
Nescio quid dicas - I don't know what you're talking about
Raptus regaliter - royally screwed

Die dulci freure - have a nice day
Gero rem imperialem - I am here on official business
Magister mundi sum - I am the master of the universe

Radix lecti - Couch potato
Non illigitamus carborundum - Don't let the bastards grind you down
Incitatus - speed demon
Vagans - Cruising
Litoralis - Beach bum
Mannus - mustang
Fractum - jalopy
Lapides provolventes - The Rolling Stones
Mortui grati - Grateful Dead
Dies felices - happy days
Navis amoris - love boat
Zona crepusculi - Twilight Zone
