Why does this happen?

Whenever I try to click on a site to email someone, I get a 404 error. This happens on both IE and Fire Fox, and on every site I've tried. For example, if a site says "contact so and so HERE" the email links never open. I just get the error. How can I change the browser setting?

Perhaps you must change the setting for IE for the program that you use to send e-mails. In Internet Explorer, from the "Tools" menu, select "Internet Options", then select the "Programs" tab and use the drop down menu next to E-mail and change it to whatever program you use. Also make sure that the SMTP and POP settings are correct (you recieve that info from your ISP).

I hope this will help you. I use the Swedish version of Internet Explorer, but I think I got all the translations and options right.

Good luck!

That might be it. It's set to hotmail, which is what I use. How do I find this out?

Oh, one more thing... When I change the setting to use my yahoo mail instead of hotmail, it works. What the heck is going on?

If you're using Outlook, Microsoft has a page that explains this:

I hope it'll work out for you!

Did M$ stop supporting POP3 or something? Because I had my father set up with Thunderbird and he can't get to any of the hotmail accounts.

Fortunately I got Gmail :)

Microsoft stopped allowing freemail POP3 access...was announced like 4 months ago, pretty widely at the time, but little since. Gmail is the Way.

Brilliant marketting.

"Here everybody, we're giving you 250 MB of space! You can't access it anymore, but it's still more than the pathetic amount you had before, so smile and be happy!"

Yes, because we ALL know how secure and difficult to crack Outlook is. Why, just ask Valve what they think of its ironclad security?
