Does anyone else HATE Final Fantasy games?

I am probably the only one who hates them, but I have to ask if anyone else here shares my hatred.
Before you flame me into oblivion, YES, I know I am in the minority. So meh on you...
Fellow haters, SPEAK!

Can you elaborate further on why you hate the series?

I shall stand with you!
Final Fantasy SUCKS.
PS2s whould be melted down or turned into parts (those that are remotely decent) for X-Boxes!
Final Fantasy disks should be carved into Shurikens and used to dice FF buyers!

I hate VII and up. Final Fantasy 3 ("6" for the nazis) was my favorite, but after that... eh.

I hate them. Every single one I've tried has been an unplayable mess of crap worth absolutely nothing, with their stupid plots and stupid characters and stupid clothes and stupid hair ... not to mention how they're called "Final Fantasy" even when theres not a shred of continuity between them.
I still love PS2s though. FF is not inextricably linked with PS2s.

The last good Final Fantasy was FF VI (Final Fantasy 3 in the original US release).

Once VIII rolled around I stopped buying them. It didn't help that the bastards decided to stop making PC ports along with quality games.
VII was my all-time favorite, though. And it had the materia system, which is IMO the best magic system any of the games have had.
Vympel, they're called Final Fantasy for the same reason Dead or Alive has that name. It was Square's last ditch effort to stay in business and so of course it became insanely popular.

Um, Dead or Alive has its name because it's a fighting game...

No, no, this is one of those things you learn after many hours of unlocking crap in DOAU. They have a G4 interview with the creator and they came up with the name because they figured that Tecmo was screwed if it didn't succeed and rich bastards if it did.

Hey haters: have you played FF1? It is the best of the series.
I wouldn't say I hate even the ones I dislike. The PS2 ones suck ass, but I don't hate them. The others are good, though.
Are you kidding me? Even if you hate the PS and PS2 era FFs, there's no WAY FF1 is anywhere near as good as the SNES era FFs.

"Fighting game" is a fairly loose description of the first DoA. "Excuse for ridiculous breast physics" is a better one.
They started being fighting games with the second one, the first one was quite poorly balanced and clunky.
On topic, I don't
hate the Final Fantasy series, but I am disillusioned with it's abject lack of anything resembling progress in any areas other than presentation. Seriously, there's nothing in the mechanics of FFX or FFX-2 that couldn't have been done on the SNES, all they've done is thrown more and more cinematic presentation at the gamer, without evolving the core game.

Thing is, there best work was before 7, but all the attention goes to those 7 and up. 1 was a classic, 2 is crap, 3 is much better, 4 was ok, 5 was great, 6 was perfection. But since then their best work IMHO is Tactics Advanced.(not counting the 4/5/6 port 1/2 remake, which isn't nearly as good as the original 1, haven't played 2 remake).
Oh, and Kefka >> Sephroth, no contest.

i hate them. i hate the stupid magic shit, i hate the haircuts i hate the stupid little charectors and i hate the grade school plots. I owned one for a while on the old super nintendo (16-bit) and grew to hate it after stupid things like flying boats to the moon and magic spells dropping fireballs on monsters. Worst. Games. Ever.

I'm simply indifferent towards them. Not my type of game, but I don't feel the urge to hate on them like some people I know.

Hardly, when you consider the amount of genuine shit thats been released over the years. Keep some perspective.

Add me to the list, although I probably would've tried it if it weren't for my sister's rabid obsession with the series. The music's pretty crappy, among the other issues others have mentioned.
She's also practically ruined my enjoyment of Metroid and Zelda.

I never got into playing them either. But I always enjoyed the cutscenes immensely. And damn, Rinoa was hot.

Are you kidding me? Simply looking at Tactics Advanced wanted to make me barf. "Judges in fights" was enough to, if I had even had an advance, not touch the game. All in all I just got a general feel of it being some ridiculous kiddie game (Isn't the opening fight to teach you how to play a flippin' snowball fight?). Of course, I think Tactics is best of the games I have played so I'm a bit biased. I played IV, hated it. I would take three steps, get into ANOTHER fight, have to use MORE potions. It wasn't entertaining enough for me to keep at it and was thus scrapped. Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to play VI yet. Oh, I also did not like IX.

Aye, FF3 (6) is the best of them, and afterwards its all downhill in terms of plot, which all become terribly predictable (unless they are too convoluted for you to bother *cough* VIII). Final Fantasy X? Tell me you didnt know what the Final Summoning entailed? Then they drag it on for about 75% of the game like you cant see it coming ten miles away. Ugggh.
IX was just average. It had TERRIBLE villains, but an extremely addicting (at least to me) mini game with the Hot and Cold junk.

Of course there are plenty of people that hate Final Fantasy. As the most popular, most mainstream RPG series out there, it attracts the loathing of hardcore game fans that want to make themselves look cool by shitting on it and lauding more obscure series. Just like hardcore scifi fans hating "The Matrix" and the SW prequels and preferring B5 or Firefly, or hardcore wrestling fans that bitch about WWE and go on about how ROH or various Japanese promotions are better.

FF sucks and I will not laud obscure series, either. Check it out: KOTOR spanks the shit out of any FF game excepting FFI.

i always felt 7 and prior games were the best myself, though 8 and up has been largely too dull for me to take any interest in. 9 was decent, but didn't have the same feel as the SNES era games did.
and for those hating the game because there's no continuity, the series was never intended to have continuity in the first place. this's been explained a number of times on various websites.

I am generally indefferent towards them. I can't say I actually hate them, but none of the FF games were ever able to grab my interest...

I've watched my friends play them. Specifically, I've watched my friends wander around for hours looking for random battles so they could level up.
Maybe that's fun for some people, but I never found that sort of gameplay satisfying.
