I'm making a pc for my girlfriends mum & the motherboard came with Norton Internet Security 2004 on the driver CD. Does anybody know if its anygood? Should I install Norton (which will probably expire in 12months) or stick with zone Alarm & AVG which will get updated for the foreseeable future?

Dont taint your computer with Norton crap. Stuff under the symantec is slightly better(business level instead of consumer crud), but still fairly horrible to put onto your computer.

I get the message, I'll steer clear of norton and go with AVG & Zonealarm which have always done the business for me.

Using the full AVG 7, love it, and ZA pro is awesome, go for those, have nothing but trouble with the recent Norton shit.

Norton causes more problems than it solves, plus you have to pay year on year for it, and their post-sales support is nonexistent (£18 per enquiry phone service? They can bollocks).

AVG and either ZoneAlarm or Kerio.

The latest paid version of ZoneAlarm also has virus protection built in, I don't know how good it is, but my Dad seems OK with it.

I'd still go with a dedicated AV, untill someone merges AVG and ZA, except both have exceptional email scanning, so it would be redudent.
