What's the quickest take-down of an opponent -

you've ever seen in a game? PC opponent or human opponent, any game, doesn't matter. The only stipulation is that the opponent was eliminated from the game with astonishing speed.

I once was the victim of such a take down while playing a board game of Axis and Allies. Playing as Russia, I was gang banged by both Japan and Germany, and was out of the game in literally two turns. Germany threw everything they had at me, and Japan did just enough to keep me from committing completely to defence against Germany. It didn't help that I rolled awfully in battle, losing at least 7-8 units for every one of the enemy's.

Turning a corner in America's Army or Battlefield Vietnam and being dead before the light from the screen has reached my eyes.

Starfleet Command III, beta patch.

I'm flying a fully kitted out Scimitar rigged for brute force. My opponent is a mere baseline Saber class starship (and he's the one who attacked me).

One-pass kill doesn't even begin to describe it.

I'd say one game of hearts I played. I was gone in 5 rounds (when you hit a 100 points). Terrible cards coupled with bad strategy on my part (cards were bad enough that I tried going for control, and just missed 3 times). I was generally much better, but that game sucked - maybe 10 minutes of playing time total.

AA... I walk down Bridge, and get hit before I can see who's shooting at me, with a headshot.

Does every last game of InstaGib I ever played count?

Also, I played Baldur's Gate DA2 with a Dorn I'd run through the game twice. One hit on Sleyvas, he was dead. Splat.

Two turns on Axis and Allies is fucking quick for the type game it is.

Outside of a spawn kill, since those are cheap and worthless, .5-1.0 seconds in Halo 2. Part of the reason I say most participants have no skill. It's the super combo effect. Plasma burst hits you, and if it comes from behind, you can hear the electro charge right when the BR round hits you in the head.

Reminds me of my fastest kill.

My Sci-Fi Bashfest mod in Starfleet Command 3. Enemy is flying a Death Star and a SSD. I'm flying an X-wing.

I start the game in an Asteroid field...
Asteroids are instant death on impact...

The Super Star Destroyer sits there facing me. It turns a little bit, bumps and asteroid, BOOM.

Death Star was a floating pile of debris by the time the game loaded

AND THE VICTOR IS: THE X-WING!

Oh, Super Smash Bros, I managed to KO Captain Falcon in 5 seconds once.

Operation Flashpoint.

That game is brilliant for the 'huh?*whap**dead*' moments it invokes. Often after 5 solid minuites of crawling. Pop up to look around and then everything goes black.

Other than that, Insta-Gib games are always fast but probably shouldn't count.

My roommate and I cleared out The Dune Sea in SW: Battlefront in under four minutes and thirty seconds without either of us dying. That is definately the quickest we've ever beaten any level on that game.

250 kills in under five minutes. Impressive.

We have quite the strategy to use with the Imperials. My roommate jumps on a speederbike and takes off towards the main rebel base. I jump on the skiff that spawns in front of me, and use it to block off one entrance of the Homestead while I capture it and start sniping out of the other entrance. When an AT-ST walks past I take that and complete the carnage.

The two of us, coupled with the Tusken Raiders mash the hell out of the Rebel scum

CS: Source, on Dust 2. I was a CT and i rushed through the double doors spraying some bullets towards the T spawn, managed to headshot some unlucky guy.

And in another sort of takedown, one of my players in Championship Manager broke the leg of one of the opposition in the first minute of the game  . To top it off he only got booked instead of being sent off.

Unreal 2k4. Spawned right by my teams power core to start a losing match in progress..

Spawn in just to see a redeemer blow up on the powercore and kill my whole team me included. Less than 1 second played.

Jenova, right after Aeris buys it. I'd gotten Omnislash REALLY early, and built up my limit beforehand, to boot. Sephiroth murders Aeris, drops a Jenova...and it catches it RIGHT in the teeth instantly. Given the context, it was a beautiful 'Oh you did NOT just...' moment.

You could get Omnislash that early?

Not the fastest kill ever, but when you consider the opponent it's pretty good.

Emerald Weapon in FF7. 78 seconds.
I didn't do this, but after having seen the video of how to do it I could easily copy the strategy.

Basically you slot 8 times Mime=Counter in Barret's weapon and armor. Cloud (or whoever) uses W-Item to buff up Barett so he can take anything Emerald throws at him. Then you do Ungarmax and let Emerald get the next move. If Barett is hit he'll counter with his Limit Break... 8 times.

That's a very, very fast kill.

Not easily, but yes, you could. And it was a BEAUTIFUL thing.

If Emerald were to hit anyone else than Barrett after the first Ungarmax the trick would be to not do anything about it. Because you'd lose the Mime, then.

But I guess you're right. It won't be that easy.

Oh just remembered another one. Nihilanth in Half-Life. The usual strategy is to fire rockets at his brain, but you'd need more than one jump to do it. I used Snarks. It's kind of disgusting when you think about it, but I filled his brain with flesh eating Snarks. That dropped him in one jump.

There's a guy on top of a tower in Specialists with a scoped M16, sniping people.

I take my Desert Eagle, point it at him, and fire once. BOOM, headshot, down he goes.

In DoD on Avalanche, staring down the Allied hill, I took out five Americans lined up with a single K 98 shot. I was floored. A few seconds later, I got cussed at and was accused of being a hacker.

Axis and Allies. Two turns. Had a guy who kept bitching that the game was biased in favor of the Axis because I always beat him while playing them. So finally I said 'So play the Axis, for Christ's sake. I always let you pick!'

Soooo...

He moves all his units to hammer the Soviets and leaves a single... armored... unit... guarding Germany.

And lo, there is a transport and an armored unit in England.

Ended that argument fairly quickly. Best part was that in a previous game I'd conquered the Western US with a single Japanese infantry unit, so I'd thought he would've learned about that by then...

Not exactly the fastest, but close enough. In Final Fantasy VII, Uts defeated Diamond Weapon in one turn using Knights of the Round because he felt like it.

EDIT: Actually, since KotR takes like only 30 or so seconds, I suppose it could be the fastest for that type of boss.
