Ok a while back i asked for help on a error message that's preventing me laying the game. I finally got round to getting the patch and the latest drivrs for my graphics card and it's still craching.
I go through character creation and then about half way through the next load screen it crashes and gives me this message:
Engine error: failed to lock vertex buffer in CMeshDX8::LockVertextBuffer
Can anyone help me at all?

What video card do you have?2000AD wrote:Ok a while back i asked for help on a error message that's preventing me laying the game. I finally got round to getting the patch and the latest drivrs for my graphics card and it's still craching.

Ah, I just looked up your previous post that says you have a GeForce 4 MX440.
Make sure you have latest DirectX.
Try going into options and turning everything down really low on the Graphics and visuals tab. If it works with everything turned down really low then start turning stuff up until you find the one that is causing the error.
Sometimes you can find an OLDER driver that works. I had to do this with Doom3. Latest driver wouldn't allow me to get into the game at all with my ATI9800pro, but I tried a few older drivers and finally got one that worked. I'd really only recommend this though if the other options don't work out.

I used the DirectX that comes on the Vampire disc so it should be close to being the latest.
Where can you get older drivers? AFAIK the official site only gives the newest drivers.Sometimes you can find an OLDER driver that works. I had to do this with Doom3. That should be the driver archive for your card. I'm assuming you're using WindowsXP.
