WoW 1.4 patch sucks ass

Yay- a stupid honor points system that has no consequences is added, making every horde wanker in the realm go apeshit with dishonorable kills, all for the cost of much increased lag.
Brilliant.

Hey! And just whats wrong with being a horde Wanker??

Uh, there most definitely IS a consequence. Dishonorable kills reduce your weekly honor rating, which means you don't get rankings, which means you get nothing for the honorable kills you DID get. So take comfort in the fact that they're screwing themselves.

I despise this patch.
I have seen more then five major spots of minor raiding turned into "And now experience over 500 Horde vs Allaince go apeshit nuts....behold LAG that makes Ironforge look like a 2 AM Wednesday Morning!!!"
For fuck's sake, going from Western Plaguelands to Southshore took me 15 minutes for the damn to catch.
If I wanted to play PvP, I would've fucking gone on a goddamn PvP server!
Yeah, Blizz can go suck giant cock...and oh yes...the uber rewards?
Shit...I can get better stuff on BRS, MC, FUCK STRAHOLME or Dire Maul!
Sorry, all this is to have a bunch of lifeless 12-16 years wank of and create lag to get a prize that you can get better in a first run of 60 level instance.

I like it. A military rank system that hopefully won't turn to shit (like Galaxies's).

Okay, on one hand, I hadn't thought much of the impact on an RP server. I'm on Mannoroth, myself, so it's outta my mind. On the other hand, you're playing a game that rigidly segregates the players into two factions that are constantly at war with each other. Call me crazy, but that seems like a textbook definition of PvP combat.

I started on an RP server to avoid the kind of lag you see on PvP. To demonstrate:
Before patch: 200-300 average
After patch: 2000-5000
A single combat takes 5 minutes to resolve because of the lag. Fucking sickening. I'm seriously considering cancelling unless this improves.

We don't get it in Europe till Friday. Did it take long to DL?

Yeah. With any luck, download.com will have clued to its existence by the time you guys get it, and you can snag it there. Fileplanet had it, and an hour-plus wait, and the Blizzard patcher takes a few hours, of course.

Mkay, after fiddling around a bit I'm none-too-impressed. What the patch actually adds is all great and fine, but what it causes is... well...
Suffice to say I would rather PvP in Galaxies.
One more week til Guild Wars... beautiful, beautiful Guild Wars. I might even cancel WoW, who knows.

Pretty much.
In my mind it fucking forcing PvP onto everyone with shitty rewards(Look at that sword and tell me that is even compared to even HALF the level 60 weaponry out there).
First day...it took me 10-15 seconds to even do instant actions...combat become basically walk off, get coke, come back...I did three strikes.

Ah, I thought I was the only one here who was drooling over it. One united server, instanced regions, actual wars between guilds, a kickass looking class system, and good eye candy. Yum.

Class systems!
Guildwars DOES look fun though, but I didn't get the impression it was very deep. Where's my functioning economy?

Lag-wise, it currently is pretty bad. Overall I actually found it interesting and enjoyable, once my ping dropped from 8600ms to something half-managable.
I'm still thinking it will get a lot better once a week or two has passed to allow the 'omgz new patch new goodiez' subsides and goes back to relatively normal. Of course it'd help if the pvping masses could think up more than 2-4 places to fight...

In Guild wars you craft everything through NPCs so you act as a gatherer kind of, so it's pretty good balance that you don't need specific crafter classes just to get your best items. Makes for good tight small guild action, not as deep as WoW but I plan to play GW as my quick fun game when WoW time gets crappy like now.

Yeah, I don't have great amounts of time to pour into the deeper MMORPGs, so GW seems like a great fit.

I'm on a PvP server- imagine how I feel. The lag is unbelievable. Stranglethorn Vale is like hell on Earth. Arathi Highlands, previously sleepy, is now ground zero. High level Horde block off both exits to Refuge Pointe and just kill everythign that moves, regardless of them being 30 lvls below. It's really annoying.

I've been having loads of fun in Desolace with my 38 hunter. Horde are never too numerous there, at most groups of four or so, and tend to be around my level. Good exping, too, and it's satisfying to whup on Infernals.

I'm gonna head there after I'm done in Hillsbrad Foothills, I think. Arathi Highlands is too annoying to do right now. I'm thinking about dropping the STV quests altogehter ... finding pages out of a damn book, damn iventory eater quest.

Its been kinda fun for me. Except on my server alliance zergs with about 3x the numbers horde can put up. the fun part has been defending orgrimmar each day. though the lag has been pretty bad and god forbid you try to do anything in the crossroads....

Shame you lot aren't on Mannoroth, I'd help out.
But yeah, Desolace is a good place for either Alliance or Horde at the moment. Neither side swarms there, so you get some good PvP in a decent levelling area, without lag or raids.
Interestingly enough, Horde in Desolace, at least on Mannoroth, always seemed to be more...polite. Many times, I'd see one or two Horde, wave, and continue on, despite being in a PvP area. Kinda nifty.
