New Zelda GCN Images and Info...

Found this over at Zelda Legends and Zelda Headquarters, but I'm going with ZHQ's stuff, since it's more comprehensive.

A Spanish video game magazine called Hobby Consolas has a several-page article on the upcoming Zelda GameCube game.

Here's a link to ZHQ's gallery with a number of scans:
http://www.zhq2.com/coppermine/cpg132/t ... p?album=86

And follows is a translation of the text made by somebody else:
This information is courtesy of _Xander_ of IGN's Zelda forums. I would have translated this myself had I a copy of this magazine since I speak Spanish. You can view his original thread here.

You can see that Link will have a new farmer-like costume. But it is in which looks to be the first zone of the game, a village called Toaru Village. They say that only the village was quite big, with several zones. Here we see the first Non Playable Characters, who have a very creative stile, between OOT and TWW.

One important thing about Link that we can only notice with his farmer costume: He has the Triforce mark on his left hand. AOL anyone? Another thing is that, even though Link will start the game being 16 years old, he will mature as the story goes on. There's no new info about the story of the game. That's because Aonuma says that they won't say any important things about it until the E3

The scenarios are beautiful, though they are similar to "Fable" (at least the village). Overall, the game has a Shonen Manga look. Aonuma says that they didn't want the game to be too realistic, like in a Square Enix's CG, so they chose this stile.

BTW... Cuccos are back! Only one appears, but it's more than enough to confirm it. They look more realistic than ever.

And more animals. A type of blue cows with huge horns that we find in a ranch (there's no sight of Malon or Talon, and the writer doesn't say anything about if they appear or not...) And this cows have some bad mood: in one pic one of them knocks Link out!

Now, let's go with the info:

The writer played with three different demos, as said before.

In the first demo, the writer played in Toaru Village, and he says that it looks to be the first zone of the game since the demo were a tutorial of the game. Aonuma's intention with this tutorial is making it fun to play, so the noobs of the series learn the basic controls quickly at the same time that experienced players have fun doing several actions. For example, we'll have to help a pregnant woman to carry some heavy stuff to her house. (Yep. This game is clearly more mature ^^)

The second demo happens in the ranch and it shows a mini-game. We'll have to ride the horse and guide all the cows to the stall in a limited time. The writer says that it is incredibly fun!

The last demo, and the most impressive of all, according with the writer, was a horse battle scene. In that demo he had to fight a big enemy with armor, riding a boar (armored too) and a group of minions. There are two ways to defeat him: with the sword or with the bow. But we have to bee near enough to hit him (looks like the arrows won't have infinite range anymore) and get close to him, at the same time we dodge the minion's attacks. The writer says it is really intense! He also said that the battlefield was huge, what made him to ask Aonuma how big the game is going to be. Aonuma said that the game is going to be two or three times bigger than OOT. Maybe even more. And they're trying the game to last 70 hours!

In this demo, there was also a new kind of horse battle: a joust! (Well... more or less. We won't use a spear, but the sword) This joust will be on a stone bridge over a canyon with beautiful looks.

Now to finish, in the last page of the article, they show a square with information of the next Zelda for NDS. Aonuma says that the concept will be quite different from the one in "Four Swords Adventures", though the interaction between characters will be similar. And another important thing: It will have on-line modes with the Wi-Fi of the handheld! He also says that it will use the touch screen and the double screen.

Well, nothing more. I'll try to make more detailed scans of the pics so you can see them, enjoy and start to speculate again lol My first speculation after seeing this new pics is that this Link is a new one. He's not TWW Link grown up. (It doesn't look like it in the new screens with his new costume)

Link typically opens his mouth when he makes a sound. It's nothing that new. :P

I for one hope that Link will never actually speak. It would be such a blasphemy.

I agree on that. It would be way to strange to hear him speak, or we could get the old friday adventure series Link.

Agreed. For some reason, Link talking just seems... wrong.

Dang. Oh well. Hopefully it'll be soon, since this game looks fucking awesome. 8)

Nooo, there must be no talking Link in this game. Not beyond the usual screams and grunts. I'd hate it if it where to become like Castlevania: SotN; a great game, but the voice-acting... better to have some cool conversation music and just text...

But what is it with Link's clothes? :wtf: Why am I reminded of Kid Icarus when I see them?
And he has a triforce on his left hand on the image where he's riding with the bulls.

It could just be him surprised at something...dunno.

The mark of the Triforce seems to have been carried over for several of the games since OoT, sort of sign of destiny, Legendary Hero thing.

I recall that it's something they at least feature in the two Oracle manga.

Haven't read those, but usually, that mark only appears on special occasions. The fight with Ganondorf in the Wind Waker, for example. But now it seems to be there all the time...

That's the one I'm referring to, too. Well, the one below it. But if you check the new trailer, you can see that Link opens his mouth just before diving, and also when he does his jump attack. Actually, Link's mouth is open when he screams in OoT too, if you look really close, only then it was just a skin effect. But now they have the model actually opening the mouth. That does make it easier for them to do voice-overs, but I don't think they will. When he got the question about voice acting, Eiji Aonuma said that maybe he'd have Link have his voice. That would of course be hilarious, but I interpret it as meaning that he does not like the idea.

Actually, the mark appeared when Link received the triforce.

Link didn't know he had it in OoT until the Ganondorf fight. In WW, he had the mark after he got the triforce (although it didn't show up in game).

Now, they just added it as an in game feature. I assume that means this is the WW Link and he still retains his triforce of courage.

It is TWW Link. This is basically the direct followup to TWW (like how AoL followed LoZ, LA followed LttP, and MM followed OoT).

I just want to know (not speculate) whether this land is brand new or if the seas over Hyrule have receeded. It would make things a hell of a lot easier if it were the second case.

Actually, I think the Oracles games retconned LA to follow OoT and MM, but I never finished them so I can't be sure.

I don't recall that they did. From what I've read, the Oracle games take place in the decades/centuries between LA and LoZ.

EDIT: The basic order of the games as I understand it is follows ("--" means directly following, while "-->" means a number of years passing between):

OoT--MM-->TWW--ZGCN-->LttP--LA-->OoS/A-->LoZ--AoL

Every Link in every Zelda which has featured the Triforce has had the "Triforce Mark" on his hand.

It was first mentioned in Adventures of Link, when Impa saw the mark after it appeared on Link's 16th birthday. that was when she took Link to the Great Temple and showed him the sleeping Princess Zelda, and he undertook the quest for the Triforce of Courage.

Ever since then, every Link has had the Triforce mark, we just don't see it ingame. Until now that is.

Yeah, I recall it being part of the AoL story.

I just can't for the life of me figure out where the Minish Cap goes in the timeline.

On the one hand, it seems to be around the time of young Link from OoT. The gravekeeper of Hyrule (was it Dante? Something with a D) is in it, he's still alive. Malon is a little girl and Lon Lon Ranch is there. But it doesn't seem to be the OoT Link, because he's not a Kokiri.

Dampe.

For the record, the characters are mostly carried over through some of the games because of their basic role-type, rather than being the actual characters from previous games.

I don't really know where Minish Cap falls into, either, yet.

EDIT: Wait, doesn't that game have Vaati in it? It could be some where around the Oracle games between LA and LoZ.

Well, Minish Cap almost certainly uses the same characters. They look the same, act very similar, have the same names, and same locations.

Dampe's still in the graveyard. Malon is still in Lon Lon Ranch. Zelda is a little girl, the king of Hyrule looks like the WW one (who was supposed to have been behind the scenes in OoT). There is the same Hyrule castle. The same Hyrule field. The same Lon Lon Ranch. And yes, Vaati is in it. I'm fairly sure it ties into OoT in some way.

Maybe, maybe not. I'd have to wait until I had more info on it. Zelda Legends in still kind of in overhaul mode.

The handheld Zeldas seem to especially borrow from previous games, so the connections might not be concrete.
