Weird Dawn of War framerate problems

My comp never ran DoW well, probably because of my crappy FX 5200. However, after upgrading to a 3dforce 6600GT, I expected a huge improvement. Sad to say, that didn't happen. I can run most modern games extremely well on full settings and mid-range AA/AF, including Rome Total War, UT2004, etc, but Dawn of War still plays at it's craptacular 20fps during battles. I've tried turning it down to 800x600, turning all shadows off, reducing texture detail, etc, and even rolling back to some older drivers. Nothing.
However, here is the weird part: The game runs *better* when put in resolutions above 1024. I can max everything out and set it to 1600, and it'll run about 5 fps faster than on lower resolutions, although the game looks far smoother playing visually.
My current setup:
1.92ghz Athlon XP 2600+ with a Barton core, not overclocked
KT4AV MSI motherboard
3dforce 6600GT with 128mb of ram
1 gigabyte of SDR-DDRAM at 166mhz (incredibly miserly, I know, but it handles all my other games fine))
I'm running windows SP1 at the moment, but I had the same problem with SP2. My comp was completely clean when running benchmarks, and the only stuff running during the benchmark was FRAPS. At the moment, I'm using the latest Nvidia drivers.
Has anyone else had similiar problems? Does DoW simply hate my card?
