I think it would be neat to make a list based on everyone's knowledge of different gaming aids for playing RPG games online (in forums, chat, etc). I know many just start a thread and begin playing, making the rolls offline or whatever or letting the GM make it for them.
Anyway, those I already know of:
Anyway, those I already know of:
- http://www.PlayByWeb.com is a forum that lets GMs create their own, make several "threads" to differentiate OOC from IC or separate chapters, also lets you make a post with a dice roll, etc. And players can create a separate "alias" for their PC in each game.
- http://www.WebRPG.com is a sort of chat client that lets you connect to a specialized server, where you also can make different chatrooms, you have several tools like a map and a sketchboard and miniatures and stuff, character sheets, dice rollers. It's made in Java. At some point you had to pay to use it, but later they made it free again and support it via donations.
- http://www.OpenRPG.com is a similar application to WebRPG, except it's open source and made in Python.
