Hydra Server?

Post by Lord Poe »

I'm about to take over a webmastering of another band website, but all the manager could tell me is that the website is on a "hydra server"

WTF?? I've tried hydra.com, hydra.net, hydra.org, all with no luck. I looked up the website on allwhois, and it says the Registrar Homepage is : http://www.alldomains.com. Still no luck. (I have the user name and password.) Any suggestions?

Have you tried Google? A search for "hydra server" turned up some useful links.

Try http://hydra.hellug.gr/

Hydra is a high performance multi threaded HTTP web server. Unlike traditional multi threaded web servers, Hydra uses a constant, but configurable, pool of threads, and each thread can handle several connections by multiplexing the connections. This may remind you a non blocking server, and this is true, but Hydra has not the killing limitation of a non blocking server, which is that they cannot use more than one CPU. Hydra will take advantage of every available CPU in a system.

Hydra is still on alpha stage, and currently is not a working web server, is an adventure. A test server of hydra with gnutls and php has been set up at:
It seems it's a HTTP server with multiplexing feature out of the box.

You may also want to take a look on this link.

hmm... thanks all, but these don't seem to lead me to the webpage I need to edit. Is there any way of finding out where this would be by the website itself?

Well... the IP address appears to resolve to box3.bluehost.com, so it's probably hosted by bluehost.com

I tried that too. I just talked to the kid who put the website up in the first place. Its floating on his own personal server, so I'm trying to explain to my "client" that they need an outside server like geocities.com to host the website on. Moving the domain name might be a different story, because they don't seem to remember how they bought it!!
