I still find the best is European Air War. First, you can have a furball involving MANY aircrafts. Second, unlike Jane's F/A-18, it still compatible on modern systems (but you'll loose the fog effects with ATI video cards, but there's a fix ). Third, there are tons of mod available on the net. Fourth, it has the most solid fan community.

IMO, it's still more enjoyable than IL-2 Sturmovik. At least in European Air War I wasn't being killed by stalling and crashing just after flying for five minutes.

EAW is a WW2 flight sim, I'm looking for a WW1 flight sim.

 Misread the title. Sadly, they don't make WWI sims anymore these days, so I would suggest either Red Baron II or Flying Corps Gold.

Try the Red Baron series.

There are no newer ones... pity. I'll try and find either of those games somewhere then.

If you ain't really scrupulous about *realism*, you may wanna' play the old Wings of Glory again.

The old-school Red Baron was released as freeware, IIRC.

If you don't care about realism, the WWI BF1942 mod.
