UNVEILED: We have the first picture of Nintendo's Revolution system, including more key details by Nintendo.

After several months of intense anticipation that Nintendo fanboys around the world have consumed with utter intensity, Nintendo of America's Revolution system's veil of uncertainty has finally been taken off.

Based on the world exclusive report by USA Today this morning, the Japanese gaming mammoth's next-gen system will certainly be present at their 9AM PDT / 12PM EST Press-Conference, in viewable form.

No release dates or pricing points have been set as of this morning, but some of these details will be revealed soon.

Nintendo's system will also offer broadband access to a free Internet-based player matching service, similar to Microsoft's Xbox Live, having downloadable versions of every Nintendo game - from games such as Donkey Kong to newer titles such as Super Mario Sunshine. Nintendo has yet to decide if downloading these titles will be for free.

Nintendo also confirmed the processing power of the Revolution, stating it being two to three times more powerful than the Nintendo GameCube. "It's not all about having 'turbo power,' " Nintendo's Perrin Kaplan says. "It's about what you do with it."

This is hot on the news of estimates that Xbox 360's power is roughly 10 to 13 times more powerful than its original console, while Sony's PS3 is 35 times more powerful than its PS2 system.

Also stressed was the ease of developing games for the Revolution. Anaylyst Richard Doherty of the Envisioneering Group said to USA Today, "They do not need to make major changes from the games they were designing," he says. "They have better performance without having to do a lot of extra work."

Perrin Kaplan: "We've built Revolution around the concept of 'all-access gaming'." This is a term Nintendo utilizes to show the developer-friendly attributes of the system. "We're about sticking to the soul of gaming."

Ladies and gentlemen, expect more in several hours as GameCube Advanced will be updating live from Nintendo's media briefing at 9AM PDT / 12PM EDT.

Stay tuned.

Very stylish. I hope this helps bring Ninty out of it's rut but I don't have much hope.

I think the potential is there. If the online service is good, I don't see why not. They are getting good 3rd party support from what I've been reading. The one thing that bothers me is that the 360 and PS3 will be significantly more powerful. Casual gamers will see that as Nintendo being crappy, although PS2 had the same problem with being the underdog in regards to power.

I don't really care about blackhead-o-vision as long as the games are good. Unfortunately, it seems that lots of games that would previously have been Ninty-exclusive are either all platforms or XBox-exclusive.

I don't see XBox360 or PS3 as significantly more powerful. We have to remember that Nintendo's estimates have always been based on the actual performance during real gameplay, but the raw polygon, never achieveable under real conditions, specs that we've been given by both Microsoft and Sony for this generation and the last.

Well Nintendo has me worried, by Archaic has a very good point. Microsoft and Sony tend to exaggurate their numbers.

If it turns out to be far slower than the other consoles, we'll have a serious problem getting third party games :(

One hour to go. Come on Nintendo. Don't let me down.

Exactly.

This all happened with the last generation.

The Xbox360 is a million times more powerful than the Xbox

The PS3 is a billion times more powerful than the PS2

and

The Nintendo Revolution is 2-3 times more powerful than the Gamecube...

:flashback:

The PS2 can produce 80 million polygons per character

The Xbox can produce up to 160 million polygons per character

and

The Nintendo Gamecube can produce 5-10 million polygons per character ...

The gamecube turned out to be a pretty powerful machine if you ask me. Nintendo seems to always be the modest company in the group. I think they'll be just fine in the power department.

(for those of you that will go off on my numbers, I exaggerated them for a reason)

Indeed. I had a number of problems too. Couldn't get the Gamespot stream sadly. I'll have to wait until it's downloadable. At least IGN already have some trailers up.

Hey guys, the "two to three times faster than GameCube" was an error!
I can dress my links too!
E3 2005: Revolution Official Name?
Posted by Conor - May 17th 2005 17:42
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Turns out 'Revolution' may be more than just a codename...

With less than half an hour until Nintendo's E3 conference begins, reputable site Club Skill are reporting that 'Revolution' (previously thought to be a prototype name for Nintendo's next home console) will in fact be the official name; either in that form or as "Revolution System" (RS). If this is true, it is very surprising news.

The article also claims that details published earlier in the day about the console's meagre power (in comparison with PS3 and Xbox360) were errorous, and that it will sport technical prowess on its competitors' level. This, at least, would be welcome news.

Stay tuned for confirmation of this news, and more, in the next hour or so.

Hahaha, oopsy poo!

Anyway, I had a pretty good connection with that... there was a couple buffery parts...but on the whole I got to see it steadily through. It was fun.

This is very good news, and makes Nintendo look even more skilled for putting so much power into such a little package.
