Made using PS2 graphics, but it better than nothing.
Set after MGS2, and Kojima is back.

Gah! The server is full! It's great that Kojima-san is still on the project, despite it saying he was going off to do other things. And it's also great that this will be PS3 material. MGS2 was revolutionary over MGS, now imagine it on PS3.

Snake! Snake! SNAAAKE!
Lookie at the character pictures. Snake is Old. Or at least beardy. And it looks like Solidus "lived", but he doesn't look healthy.
And is that person between them meant to be... Liquid? He's holding his han up to his face almost exactly like Ocelot is over to the left (and we know what happened to that hand, don't we?)
Of course, this could just be my overexcited gibbering cause the trailer won't download.

This will be only a minor sneaker. They won't give anything away, not even how nice it will look as this is PS2 grade stuff, not PS3. We all know that the true plot never quite unfolds as we expect, even when the final MGS2 and 3 trailers were out.
Dammit, download!
I also notice MGS3: Subsistence is looking like the MGS2: Substance fare again, but it has nice online play and re-releases of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. Though MGS3: Subsistence is mainly full of stuff the basic MGS3 package had in the EU.

I wonder if I got this right...
The character drawings from left to right are:
Vamp, Meryl, Raiden, Ocelot, Snake, Liquid, Solidus, and... Naomi?
I didn't expect Solidus or Naomi for this one...

Finally saw it. It's piss funny, but shows nothing of MGS4, naturally.
It does, however, show that Hideo Kojima is in the driving seat for sure given this game is under the name of Kojima Productions, so he's obviously been lying about his leave and instead leading up to this promotion as it were in Konami.
The second thing is that Snake is the main star, the little in-joke shows that they took onboard that Raiden wasn't well received.
The third thing is that I can't wait to see how the plot unfolds and what the mission is. It is said to be the biggest mission yet and since the Patriots are now known, Snake and Hal must be teaming up with Raiden to go after them. How do you take on the US gov't? Well, we'll see.
The third thing was I was pissing myself laughing at Snake mocked up in Sam Fisher gear (Kojima-san praised Splinter Cell and there's a nice in-joke about this in MGS3 in the Snake Vs. Monkey mission in the EU version).
I simply cannot wait.

With the whole "no place to hide" theme and the fact that snake will basically be facing an enemy that controls all the world goverments, I think that the setting may be a battlefield during some sort of war somewhere. There will be fighting between two sides and snake is trying to complete his mission during all this fighting. Either that or a heavily defended patriot installation.

I highly doubt there will be a big war going on or anything of the sort. The Patriots control the US, not the world, though the originak Philosopher's were global in nature. Given the Patriots don't exist as far as everyone is concerned, there's not going to suddenly be a war against the US because an ex spec-ops soldier and a computer nerd say so. Even Arsenal beaching on one of the NYC islands could be explained away by them no doubt.
If anything, it will be a mission to infiltrate a Patriot stronghold or maybe multiple ones and help bring them out into the open.

I can recognize Solid Snake, Meryl, Revolver Ocelot and Raiden in that poster.
The beard for Solid Snake sucks. Get rid of it. That it's Raiden is a dead giveaway, what with the katana.

The beard thing can be annoying. I recall in MGS3 there were options at the beginning that determined whether he had one in the game (the usual "I liked MGS1" and so on before starting the game).

Oh dear god. You know that poster Vympel linked to?
That's Vamp on the far left.
Christ, why won't that fucker just stay dead?

Who are the three on the right then? Hal, Miller, and Naomi?

IIRC he was quite easy to kill with RPG.

Vamp is alive in MGS2's ending. You see him in the background.
The theories I hear:
Vamp, Meryl, Raiden (with child), Ocelot (with glowy hand), Snake, Otacon, Big Boss (remains of), Naomi.
Interestingly, Meryl in those pictures looks quite similar to how she looks in Policenauts, which would be set around 2010, a date which ties in with the apparent age of Raiden's child, if that's who he's holding.

Yeah, it does look like Raiden is holding a toddler there, so some time has gone by since MGS2 it would seem. I have to wonder how the Patriots covered up the Big Shell incident and what Philanthropy has been doing.

Gamespot has had a
Q&A Session with Kojima, in which he mentions a couple of new features that MGS4 can be assumed to be sporting. To whit: Controllable 3D camera and Online play.
These features will appear first in MGS3: Subsistance, so they should be fully tested for the new game.
