Sony Handycam, Digital 8, How do I get the files off it?

I'm trying to get the video files off a handycam (model above). The default program doesn't to shit and windows isn't seeing it as a drive. How do I get it working right? Help would be appreciated soon as I've got some people breathing down my neck for a solution (I'm not on my own computer so It'd help if it was computer safe). Thanks, ~DarthDavid.

Use a FireWire cable to plug it into your computer and then go find a video capture program that supports DV over FireWire. Windows will not see this tape device as a drive.

No firewire on the comp it's being used on so we're forced to use USB. I've got another friend who I think has the same cam so i'm gonna ask him wtf to do.
