I've been playing with Sveasoft Alchemy--a third-party firmware for the Linksys WRT54G router and it looks pretty nifty. Among other things it has is improved Quality of Service control (e.g. if you have VOIP you can give that max priority and keep BitTorrent traffic at low priority), a built-in VPN server and static DHCP assignment for IP addresses (via MAC address).

It is nifty and free! There are also other projects like HyperWRT, OpenWRT and DD-WRT as well, all of which have varying levels of features and support.

Any noticeable issues? Seems like this firmware has a couple of nifty features I'd like.

The XLink Kai firmware is interesting. It sets your router up to forward packets from any console to anyone else running Kai, without you needing to do it through the PC. The result is you can play the consoles online without needing to, say, pay for Live.

Not so far.
