Bad codec. Either that or your hard disk has caused a bad sector where the codec is sitting.

Do a scan disk and check for bad sectors. Any bad sectors, back up & replace the disk ASAP.

Uninstall all the shitty codec pack you might have installed, and use WMP10 codecs and use ffdshow for everything else.

All I have is divx installed, and I only did a fresh reinstall of XP 2 days ago and this problem is still there.:-/

In my experience the only way to fix a codec problem is to go full TBO Shep-Solution Nukey-Nukey-Nukey on it till it's dead.

Then when the hard drive's done formatted, reinstall Windows.
