The 6800 series worth getting now?

With the next gen ATI and Nvidia chips soon to be around the corner, according to what I've heard, would it be smart to get a 6800 now with the potential price drop, or wait and go for a next-gen card once it comes out?

And anyone know the specs of the next-gen cards? Would they so outstrip the current gen cards that it won't be worth getting a 6800?

I need to run so I'll post quickly.
Yes, it took nVidia and ATi a year just to get us into good supply situation, I have no doubt the next gen cards will be impossible to find the first half year. Also, a 6800GT will be able to run UT2K7 on full details on 1024 res, I assume thats enough for you?

Here's the quote
Freeman: And will a 6800 Ultra be able to run Unreal Engine 3 with all the options maxed at 1024 by 768?

Sweeney: Yeah, 1024 by 768 should be perfect for an Ultra, of course by the time Unreal Tournament 2007 ships at the middle or the end of next year, you'll have even higher-end cards than that; you'll have four times the performance, so you'll be able to run 1600 by 1200 on those.

I assume thats good enough? Now I know he referanes an Ultra there, but the differances between an Ultra and a GT are a minor OC away.
