I need to coordinate with my coding team over the weekend to finish an assignment, but I'm horribly sick (and busy), so I want to use IM. I haven't used ICQ in a million trillion years, and neither the client registration, an app, or the web app fucking works. The client is too crap to work out my firewall, it seems, and there's no fucking way I'm turning it off.

So, since ICQ doesn't want to tell me, which ports do I open? Why can I reach the registration servers, send the request, but never recieve a reply? Why do goddamn Europeans use ICQ ANYWAY?

Why not just use the java version of icq?

Or not: I still need a number, and the icq.com/register site doesn't work. My problem is that no method of getting an icq number works for me, and I dont remember the one I used in 1997.

That's the plan - but registering and getting a new one doesn't work. It just hates me. I've tried the client new number thing, a standalone app and the website you linked, and I just get errors.
