StarDestroyer.Net BBS

I've got an oddity with the original fallout. I managed to get it installed, and the game starts, but when it starts the screen goes black and I get this strange paint brush/wipe effect where you move the cursor and it clears the black and renders the game, moving the character causes the screen to go completely black again.

Anyone know a fix? I've been browsing through the archive board but couldn't find anything.

don't have background windows

to refresh the whole screen just goto preferences and then back to the game

Tried with no background windows. It worked for a few minutes, then it drew black again, I opened the prefferences and the whole screen refreshed, then moments later drew black again, triggered by the combat I think.
