Weird Outlook issues

First off, I don't care about any other e-mail clients, I am perfectly happy with using Outlook. Besides, if need be, I've got more than enough spyware progs and ways to do antiviruses. So don't bug me about it.

Anyhow, on to the issue. Earlier this morning, I was sending/receiving e-mail fine for my 40+ e-mail accounts through three domains (don't ask). Later this morning, I stopped getting e-mail through all but three or four of my accounts, and sending was going fine. I tried restarting Outlook (Office Outlook 2003, student/teacher edition, full) and that did not help.

All I got was the standard 'Cannot connect to POP3. If persists, contact ISP.' error message.

Any ideas on what's going on?

Maybe a server glitch?
Did they change anything on their side?
When things like that happen, it mostly is not on your side...

Well, thing is, two of those domains are attached together. All but about four of my e-mail addies work through those two domains, plus one from another. The addies that ARE working are part of my 35-or-so e-mail addresses that go through verilon.org. All my sites (listed in my sig) are through the same host, so if it's on their side, then what would the problem be that I'm only getting some of my e-mail?

Quick bump to say that I'm still having issues upon waking this afternoon. Should I restart my computer, or what?

I've had issues vaguely like this occasionaly.

Sometimes, just sometimes I'd get some annoying spam mail turn up on my POP3 account that outlook just flat out refuses to download from the server.
So what would happen is that it would stall on that message and then eventualy time out, try getting my messages again and it just stalls up again, on the very same e-mail no less.

What I used to do when this happened was to access the messages through my browser and manualy delete the spam, after which outlook picked up where it had left off like nothing had ever been wrong.

Never did figure out exactly which e-mails tripped my outlook out like that though.

Hrm. I checked the e-mail addies that it's stalling at, and there's nothing seeming to be wrong with it. Except now, Outlook won't properly close. >.<

For anyone that can tell me what the error is, here it is:
Outlook wrote:Task 'Robert-Conway.com - Receiving' reported error (0x80042108) : 'Outlook is unable to connect to your incoming (POP3) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

Use an online POP3 checker like www.mail2web.com and see if you can access your mail like that. If not, then a POP3 server is down somewhere I guess.

I was able to check my e-mail through webmail, yay. I restarted my computer, and it resolved all but one e-mail address issue, which I do not understand.
